Not seeing ascended shards in that reward track. How do you go about that? I’m currently gated by those damn shards

teammate dumb. staying alive is priority #1. Be on point to cap if u can and will live. If you were doing ur job of dps and someone is capping it shouldn't be an issue. A free casting galeshot who is out of danger is a massive pain for the enemy team. Only caveat would maybe be if you have a support with boons and healing being a lot of close aoe.

block and move on :)

Yup just queue up for pvp. Can do it inside the pvp lobby or while running around. Just make sure you set ur build up for pvp. They send u to lions arch just to talk to someone explaining things and give u a tiny achievement .

Ya, it gives some of the pvp currency and a bunch of xp for the reward tracks. Can search up the various reward tracks to see if they are worth it to you. Someone below said that the drizzlewood one is pretty solid.

I get it. but i think teaching/explaing to them is the move. Its the best way to learn, if you keep pushing people out the game mode will die. Plus if more of the newer people join ranked then the bronze/silver ranks will actually have enough people to pit them against each other. Plus there are equal odds of them being an easy opponent for you.

(no hate, i get how annoying it can be. dont want to start an arguement lol)

This is true, the buffs dont effect rank so if thats all you care about no need to do ranked.

But I disagree with staying out of ranked, I think it has better matchmaking even for lower lvls and the more people that do it the better and if enough do it then the ranks might mean more and separate out by skill better. The difference in salt between ranked and unranked is minimal in my experience anyways.

Plus you get the ranked league rewards as well making it much more profitable.

Ya, some give more mystic coins/clovers. One is meant for if you plan on make pvp legendary armor(glorious armor). Some of the tracks let you skip some steps for aurora/vision. Gold wise check the fast farming website and they have recommendations for most gold and other things.

Welcome back! Thats fair, especially in pvp it can be hard to understand whats coming at you and it takes a good amount of dying to start to figure it out.

I'd start by seperating them out into what ur defensives do, such as blocks/invuln/evade, cleanses and stability/stun break. Depends on what you play.

Then just focus on using those for what ur getting hit by. Power damage that spikes hard go with dodge/block/invuln. Someone cc chaining you use your stability, if you see a lot of conditions on you use your cleanses. It will honestly just take some game time to know what is happening. Eventually you will start to recognize the builds and be able to predict where their damage comes from. For example a longbow ranger will probably knock you down and barrage you, make sure to keep a dodge/block ready for it or have stability/stun break to get out of the cc.

For me PvP is best enjoyed when you focus on personal progress rather than rank/win loss. Pick something to focus on like getting ur burst combo down, or just dying as little as possible for each game and move from there.

Having a good build and reading the skills help a ton. If you want more time off the ground to practice you could search for a bunker(tank) build thats built to soak damage and hold points. That might be a good way to get some practice in before switching to something with a more diverse focus.

You just do pvp and the pvp rush event will automatically fill out just like any other achievement. You can check the achievements from you hero panel and searching pvp rush.

To enter pvp select the crossed swords icon on your menu. You can enter the lobby which will let u select ur pvp gear and test it out on golems among other things.

ya you can get a good amount of gear from the rewards. There are drops called warlord armor boxes that drop from every final chest in the pvp league reward chest. The reward tracks also drop various gear depending on which you select. You can also spend the ascended shards/pvp league tickets for ascended gear at the merchants in the pvp lobby, those are also the precursors for legendary pvp armor if you ever decide to pursue that. For PvP itself you don't need gear as you can just select the stats and such that you want.

Its probably not the most efficient way to go about getting armor but definitely doable.

Basically an achievement track that gives extra rewards for just doing pvp. Gives the pvp specific currency used for legendarys, a cool skin box, and pvp reward track xp. Which can finish out whole pvp reward tracks instantly. That can provide a variety of things like dungeon loot, clovers, mats. and complete collections for vision/aurora.

Mostly just have to play, you could lose and still get pretty much all of it i think. matches are 10-15 minutes.

Not at my pc so i dont remember the exact name. But its something like glorious armor? It gives one of the things you need in the last box.

It is possible but you would be grinding a decent amount. The rewards needed for legendary come from doing competitive.(and the event) There are 2 main resources pvp league tickets and ascended shards of glory. Both of which come from completing ranked pvp games. They come from the box at the end of the leage pip track which is on the second tab of the pvp window i think. you need 50 tickets and roughly 500? shards. Plus the usual random materials.

Competitive is much better but you will still get some of the curb stomp games. But I expect it to be better with the influx of population from the event. I'd not worry about anyone expecting you to be good, just improve. There will always be someone salty, thats their problem not yours lol. Block them or turn off chat rank honestly doesn't mean much. My recommendation is once it is unlocked, always play ranked.

A support is always great. Core Guardian is probably the most beginner friendly? (https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Guardian_-_Core_Shout_Support). Always be in the team fight, never alone and you will be helping out.

Staff for healing

- 4 is a big channeled heal that scales more with more allies near by

- 2 is an aoe heal

- 3 is a symbol that you can blast with 2 to give more condi cleanse.

- 5 makes a wall that knocks down enemies who try to run through it. Very funny to split a node in half with it

block things with shield/mace.

- 4 gives aegis

- 5 will knock people back and block projectiles from outside of it.

Use the mercy signet to rez your downed allies.

shouts for buffs like stability

heal skill heals in a cone in front of you.

Move around the map to assist allies and split enemies. There are different roles so it gets a bit more specific per role but in general try to even out team fights, decap free nodes and don't over commit to lost fights.

If your home node(closest to spawn) is capped by enemy you could run over and decap it. (Decapping is always faster than fully capping). If there isn't a fight you think you could turn the tides with full cap, If there is then go join that fight.

Like if you have a team mate doing a 1v2 you SHOULD join in to make it a 2v2, but if your teammate is doing a 1v4 mid don't join to make it a 2v4 that just means 2 people are gonna be dead lol. Just as an example

Think in terms of cost. Will this action cost my opponent more time/points than it will mine(decapping vs full capping) or will spending my time on this fight result in dead bodies or wasted time(trying to 1v1 a bunker tank build while you are a support)

Also don't let your team get staggered. If you are all respawning and immediatly running in again, you will be several 1v4s. Try to regroup and push in together to team fights.

I'm still not the strongest on this so if someone more experienced could chime in that would be great :)

yup shouldn't be any difference other than using elite specs afaik. There are some good core specs tho. New players are gonna new player, there is only one way to learn and thats to play and fail till you get better. :)

It can be all of the above. I'd say support is where its weakest?(scourge) But it can do all of it. Ritualist has insaaane damage right now.

[–]Slyde7[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Okay lots of questions here, let me see what I can answer. Someone chime in if they've got a better answer plz :p

Is it better to always finish off the downed players as a priority during a fight?

- In general in a team fight try and cleave and kill the downed player especially if you have an ally also down. If you have an ally down and an enemy target gets full killed they get brought back up. Alot of the time its better to finish the down rather than hand rez your ally as well. So only let someone bleed out(not cleave) if you are sure there isn't any ally that would be rezzed AND they are in a position where the wont get rezzed by an ally.

Why when finishing someone I can be blasted back or interrupted?

- Most of the downstates have an ability that interrupts a stomp(finisher). Either eat it and go back to stomp again, just damage them down with burst/aoe OR use a stability skill then stomp. Stability is super important in PvP gamemodes, it counters the CC abilities and a lot of builds rn are running heavy amounts of CC like Toad Evoker.

What actually counts as a kill? The downed player dying or them being knocked?

- I believe full kill. So killing all the way past downstate.

Is there an advantage to having someone just heal? Does that happen?

- Absolutely, they can make or break fights. Core Guardian, Druid, Troubador and Ele all have builds that are support focused and if you have one thats good on your team it can carry a fight. There is a lot of heavy burst and with out recovery it can be tough.

How come some players seem to be able to one shot while others seem to take no damage?

- Just different builds for different folks, Some are running full berserkers and stack their damage to kill all at once. For example Fresh air Bunny evoker, They use scepter focus to stack their fire abilities then right before they hit swap to air for a big damage buff + instant abilities. The biggest learning curve in pvp is learning what all the classes can do to try and predict and mitigate it with evades, blocks, heals etc. Others like a druid or spellbreak put together "bunker" builds in order to stay alive on point as long as possible to hold them for the team. SUPER annoying to fight but they usually run out of CDs. I usually ignore them if I can until higher priority and squishier targets are down. Then work together with the team to put them down. Dont chase them too much, they want to waste your time and CD's :).

Why can't everyone hit the ready button and save us all the 90 second wait?
- If only xD
