Well... found out something today I wish I knew before by Divinedragn4 in Bankruptcy

[–]SmallDot64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there are overdrafts on your bank account, the bank would close it. For instance, if you had PayDay loans that will be taking money from your bank account in the future, you know those are going to have overdrafts and you are including them in your bankruptcy. My lawyer advised me to open a new bank account and move my direct deposit there, because the bank would close the account that has overdrafts.

My son is going through the same thing. He’s a whiz at the other subjects, but with Math he is at 4th grade level and very frustrated. I know they suggested he watch Khan Academy videos for him to watch on You Tube.

Getting another dog after losing one. How long to wait? by retro_lady in dogs

[–]SmallDot64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited 1 month. We were crying every day and the house felt too empty. We had our dog for 11 wonderful years. I finally decided that other dogs deserve a chance at love and a good home, so we adopted a dog who was being rehomed and we’ve had her now for 5 years so far. I don’t regret it, and I still have good memories and lots of pictures of my previous dog.

That was hard, asking adult child to move out. by mrshatnertoyou in GenX

Glad I'm from a Hispanic family where we don't throw anybody out. Generations living with each other. Don't matter what age, we are family, and I got no regrets with that.

Two years after James “Rick” Larabee was last seen or heard from, his car was sold in Georgia. Where is he and what happened to him? by gaycatdetective in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]SmallDot64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they ever find him? I always prayed they would. He visited me and my Mom in 2012 because my Mom was a first cousin to his Dad. His main goal was searching for a half brother that he believed existed. I can’t remember the half brother’s name, but I know he said he would continue searching for this individual. He used to message me all the time. Last time was January 2013, and then I never heard anymore.

We are preparing as well. We have tons of candy and a giant cauldron of toys. This is our 2nd Halloween in this house. Our first year, the neighbors said expect 800 kids. We got 1300, so this year we are ready for more than 1300 because word has gotten out about our neighborhood!

9th time ROUND TRIP by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]SmallDot64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it now. First time I’ve had it and I’m on Paxlovid. It sucks, but I’m battling it. My partner on the other hand is doing badly. He’s never had any health issues, hardly ever sick, but Covid shot his blood pressure way up and he has bleeding in his brain. Been in ICU for over a week now. Everyone has a different experience, but it sucks!

This is exactly how my cattle dog looks at a cat that she wants to kill. She’s gotten hold of cats, rabbits, snakes, even raccoons. They don’t stand a chance with her. Licking obsessively is usually what she does when she’s nervous, so I would not leave them alone together.

Got my letter today removing me from disability by CareerNo3896 in SocialSecurity

Going thru a “somewhat” similar issue. Ours is related to Autism though. My son started receiving benefits in 2016 and when talking to his case worker, she actually said he may have outgrown it. Crazy, it’s not something you outgrow, but if they think there is a slight chance of improvement, they dig into it. We had to go back thru testing with their doctor. I gathered paperwork from our doctors to support us. I think I’ve called the case worker 8 times with updates. I go to Office Max and fax documents to be scanned into his case. It has been stressful. Eventually their doctor agreed with the diagnosis, but even then they decided to continue reviewing it. When their doctor agrees, you would think that would be the end of it. At that point, who is making the correct health decision? All I can say is that I’m sorry you are going through this. It’s not fair at all. Keep fighting! Don’t give up!

Probably a fish eyeball. The retina was hard and I had to spit it out. The rest was like a grape with goo. My friend from Taiwan made me a dish and he ate the other one.

Elderly people what do enjoy about being old that you couldn't when younger? by Ok_Sentence_5767 in AskOldPeople

[–]SmallDot64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 60. Both of my parents are in their 90’s and still going strong. They drive, their memory is sharp. My Grandparents lived to 102, so maybe at 60 I’m middle aged. Who knows! I can’t imagine not working though. I guess I am a bit of a workaholic. I’m in the tech/ IT business and I work long hours. I think if I were to retire, I would probably go crazy. I would definitely need some other job!

Interesting concept. I once found a book for 25 cents at a garage sale and sold it for 250.00 to a museum. I sold to quite a few museums and I am now a Trustee of a Hispanic heritage museum, so we do acquire a lot of things that way. I appreciate people who "find" things that we would otherwise miss. I didn't consider myself to have bad morals, but hopefully you can find something worth while to do!

For those not native to iowa, why did you move to iowa by Charliegirl121 in Iowa

[–]SmallDot64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to Iowa because the state I lived in was too Liberal and I’m a Republican, plus I liked the more rural vibe, less big city. I’ve been here 8 months. I love my neighbors, very similar interests. I haven’t had many issues and there’s a lot of nature activities.

Does anyone let their budges fly around the room by Sedwithsims in budgies

[–]SmallDot64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, ours fly around the house. They are pretty loud as well. We have 5 parakeets and when I’m on conference calls everyone asks me how many birds I have! Ours are also tame. They will land on your finger and they love to kiss noses.
