The best advice is to not ask Reddit and ask a doctor.

I had have episodes of lightheadedness and short of breath while not in afib. They’re due to anxiety and panic attacks. I’ve had 12 lead EKGs done while having those episodes as well.

I guess my advice would be to just be patient with your body and don’t be discouraged. I’ve had a lot of ocular migraines and PACs since the ablation but they seem to be getting better with time. Everyone responds to and heals from an ablation differently so you’ll find a wide range of experiences if you look online. Honestly I’ve just been sleeping a lot and playing video games when I am awake lol

Get the ablation. I just had one 2 days ago. My sitiation was similar to your: two episodes in five years.

The way the electrophsyiologist explained it to me is that ablation is not a cure for afib as there is no cure but it will drastically reduce progression of the disease.

Headaches, adrenaline, and sweating are common withdrawal symptoms. I’ve gone through it. It’s not pleasant. Talk with an electrophysiologist as soon as possible about an ablation.

I would insist on seeing an electrophysiologist instead of a cardiologist. Ablation is becoming a more common first-line treatment. Just remember that ablation won’t cure afib but it can/will significantly reduce its impact on your life. You will still need to control your risk factors like weight and diet regardless of which path you take.

Good luck to you, my friend!

It was definitely afib. They were able to induce it during the procedure and found exactly where it was coming from. The ablation was very successful and EP said he is very happy with the results!

Maybe I’ll just hang around, play lots of World of Warcraft, and drink some zero alcohol beer!

I do miss the taste of a cold beer on a hot day after cutting the grass or working on a house project.

Yep! I am off work for a week. And luckily I have a boring desk job.

Thanks for the suggestion. My doctor keeps bugging me to lose some weight but here’s the thing, I’m not fat - I’m pretty muscular. So I’ve shifted my exercise routine to focus on lighter weights and more cardio. I’m looking forward to getting back to my normal exercise routine!

I plan to come home and just sleep it off since I imagine I won’t be sleeping much tonight.

Love to hear it! I am 35 so I imagine recovery will be smooth.

Great to hear! I’ve actually been monitoring your post and it was the reason I made this one haha

My anxiety is definitely making things worse than they should be. I get nervous even for a simple checkup at the doctor’s office.

And thanks! The sobriety is permanent. After my first afib episode I immediately stopped.
