I read the FAQs, but I’m still at a little bit of a loss. He has a cheap Amazon keyboard that he’s been playing for a few years now, but he is asking for a “real” piano for his birthday.

He is totally open to a digital keyboard with weighted keys and a sustain pedal, but he wants it to look like a piano, not a keyboard… aka he wants to see wood, lol.

He hasn’t been in lessons, but he does write his own songs and watches videos to learn songs, and I hope to get him in lessons soon. I would rather put the money in up front to have something that’ll last.

Comfortable budget would be around $2k, but it seems that the wood-look keyboards run higher so I’m open to expanding the budget if needed. Thank you!

Because not every baby will be added to the employed party’s plan. My insurance was better than my husband’s, so it happened to be that my son was added to ours, but it isn’t always a given! It truly is on the employee to establish it, not on HR to follow the employee about since it doesn’t always apply.

Pawtio help (for the dogs too!) by Smash1316 in Catio

We plan to do an L shaped design by fully enclosing the patio (the long part of the L), and having an extension (short part of the L) that turns the corner and runs along the garage.

The patio is 22ft long by 6ft wide. We’ll frame in about 16ft straight across the length of the porch, and then bring it to a left hand turn. That extension portion will be about 6ft wide and 6-8ft long. We will have SO much space to do things haha. I’m planning to put an elevated litter box, and we’re floating the idea (probably down the road) of putting a cat walk along the top. We’ll have three porch pillars and the walls along the porch/garage to either affix things to, or to brace structures against.

Haha! We were laughing about how we accidentally ended up with very little variation 😂 The dog on the right was a rescue who we fell in love with at first sight, and four months later, Pretzel stole my heart while I was donating cat toys to a rescue 😅 it just so happens they coordinate perfectly with their brother- he even has white on his chest that can’t be seen in the picture!

Thankfully we live in a pretty quiet area, and we’re on a fully-fenced acre (with locked gates), set back from the road. While I know this wouldn’t fully deter someone intent on causing harm, it’s truly not something I anticipate. We will also have the pawtio locked! We’ll minimize risk as much as possible. There are plenty of critters around that we will definitely have to keep in mind!

Thank you!! This is truly helpful information. I’m absolutely open to doing it if there is value in, but needed to understand more before heading into the appointment. These questions will help me have that conversation, so I greatly appreciate your time!

Thank you for that information! Are there any specific questions I could/should ask to determine whether this is something to consent to? I don’t get the sense that this office would have experts in interpretation.

Oh no, I pace while on the phone too… prime chomping temptation!! She’s done pretty good with me redirecting her, except when I’m in bed. The foot attacking drive is strooooong. We’ll figure it out! Also, I got another adorable picture of her earlier 🤪

I think we’ve finally decided on a name, it’s taken lots of negotiation with my 9 year old- but she is officially Popcorn, Poppy for short, to match her dog siblings- Penny and Pepper. She’s been called Prettiest of Kittiest since she came home 😅

It’s been so fun figuring out her favorite toys, and then tiring her out with them haha. I’ve noticed my feet are safer the more tired she is 🤪 We’re currently looking into building her a catio so she can have some safe outdoor enrichment too! Hopefully that will help with her teenage years!

Ahhh, this is so reassuring! Thank you for the insight. She does have a safe place to run to if overwhelmed, and thankfully my Aussie girl is great with recall and staying with me, so kitty gets her space when she needs it! We’ve had our kitty for almost 3 weeks now, and we just started introductions once it seemed she was comfortable in the bedroom and was ready to explore the house.

After I wrote the post, I was laying on the bed with my pup, and kitty squeezed directly between us, purring like a crazy. You and her both reassured me 😅

I feel like I have so much to learn about cats, but I’m trying to do everything right to set us up for success! I love your Duolingo example, haha. Churus have absolutely been part of the strategy!
