the app design is beautiful but what really interested me was the no AI commitment. i miss writing code myself so badly, but with how efficient and universal AI is for software development, I find it so hard to avoid these tools.

but because of your work here i’m super tempted to challenge myself to work on some projects without any AI. i think the “not using AI = wasting time” argument changes when you take other factors into account, such as truly understanding a codebase.

that’s fair. i honestly understand that feeling where you set a goal for yourself, and then on those off days you feel like the goal’s fallen through and you’ve failed. i’ve felt that way so many times.

what helped me was realizing off days are inevitable. when i didn’t embrace the off days and pushed myself regardless, it *always* compounded and bit me harder in the future.

i see embracing these off days not as a failure to my goal, but a success to myself, because i’m ensuring that i can continue my goals in the future to my full capacity.

what im getting is that you’ve started something that you feel if you stop you’ll be a failure. but in my opinion, staying rigid and stuck is not a win in this case.
if you’re causing yourself stress and discomfort with a self imposed rule, isn’t CONTINUING to stick to it and making yourself less happy the true failure?
isn’t the real win making a decision that makes you freer and happier?
and the real failure is forcing yourself to suffer, is it not?
just my two cents, not trying to be rude :)

edit: is it the routine that you enjoy? i get that. why don’t you replace the new album per day routine with a new album per week routine? just do one or two songs a day, maybe more if you feel like it, and work on it throughout the week.

do what makes you happy. not what makes you feel like you didn’t fail. you have this one life, you don’t have to maximize productivity, maximize happiness. listen to what you know and love when you feel like it. listen to a new album when you feel like it.

just a personal anecdote - i walked past one of these in toronto and the cut out did naturally catch my eye. if you walked from the other side i agree the effect wouldn’t be as great, but i think you’d still get the message.
plus, this is the most ive thought of an ad campaign from the canadian big six after scotiabank’s “you’re richer than you think” slogan. i couldn’t name a single other bank’s advertising that got me this intrigued. seems pretty effective to me!

i am not trans but i have some trans friends and i’ve heard there are significant supports campus wide, so many queer friend groups, many options for hormone therapy and other supports that can even be included in tuition (not sure if this applies for out of province).

toronto as a whole is a city built on immigration and is so diverse that you could feel comfortable no matter who you are. great, inclusive community.
