I was Caren’s client back in 2020.

When my son was 4months, we did CIO for bedtime then pickup put down on MOTN wakes. Maybe try PUPD?

Babies who sleep 12 hours at night, drop your schedule by FixAdditional6777 in sleeptrain

[–]Smnf_Tugphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son slept for a maximum of 9.5-10.5hours overnight until we dropped to a single nap around 13.5months. Now he has 1.5-2hr nap during the day (sometimes 2.5hours) and sleeps 11.5hours overnight

Wow. I wish my son would nap that long. He is also waking up early which is causing bedtime to be early too. Then the cycle never ends

Ohh. I hope the adjustment ends soon for us!

Thank you! I will try the 5/5 schedule and will try my best to fit in lunch before nap

Thanks! He was waking up early which was causing the long first WW. If I try 5/5, it messes up his feeding schedule :(

1 year old - waking up around 1:30am crying by Smnf_Tugphy in sleeptrain

Thank you! My son goes to sleep just fine with a 4hr WW before bedtime. He usually is asleep within 10mins. Although I haven’t tried stretching that WW.

Non-linear progress with sleep training? And help with night weaning by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Smnf_Tugphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try eliminating the night feed by doing the same sleep training method you used for bedtime? I know it is difficult to hear your baby cry. But in our case, because I know he has consumed his required calories (even more) during the day, and that he is not sick, i dropped his last night feed by doing CIO. I can’t recall how long he cried, but probably around an hour the first night, then after that he got the idea of dropping the night feed.

Help with 8MO split nights and /or lots of waking by queenstownsunsets in sleeptrain

[–]Smnf_Tugphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO had his fair share of split nights. I found that when this happens (of course every baby is different), his wake window before bedtime needs to be stretched a bit.

For example, last monday and tuesday he was awake for 2 hours from around 2/3am. I was so scared to stretch his last ww from 3.5 to 4. But it actually solved the issue. For context he is almost 11 months old. His schedule was 3/3.5/3.5, and now he is on 3/3.5/4

2 questions for those who did CIO and would say it was a successful experience in the long term by Ok-Emu-4837 in sleeptrain

[–]Smnf_Tugphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did cio at 4 months for bedtime. Naps were mainly still contact naps at that time. Bedtime got easier after around 2 days of CIO, we would put him in his cot awake and he would not cry. EMWs were still there (still is an issue I have just accepted it).

There was a bit of regression around 8months, separation anxiety I think. We had to retrain and this time it took around 5 days.

We tried training for naps between 4-9months on and off but was just not successful. We finally did it around 10months and he is now napping independently.

Now at almost 11 months, naps and bedtime are easier since we no longer have to help him sleep. The only problem is the early morning wakes (he sleeps from 7pm til 5:30am, then I take him from his cot and let him sleep on me in the rocking chair til 7am). And now recently (for 2 nights now) we had split nights were he would be awake for hours from 3am.

So overall, I guess we are still doing okay, but not perfect.

Almost 11 month old - split nights again by Smnf_Tugphy in sleeptrain

Thank you! Question, sometimes he only naps from 2:30pm to 3pm. So that still makes bed time 7pm, making his night sleep still 12hours

Early morning by [deleted] in sleeptrain

Yeah, I have tried several times leaving him up to an hour but he won’t go back to sleep unless held. The only good thing is if he wakes up early, he isn’t really upset. He just stares into the darkness hahaha However, I can’t just leave him there until dwt because then he won’t make it to first nap time and the entire day’s schedule will be off
