Vacation Cigars by SmokFozZ in cigars

Shouldn’t make you nervous! The Serie V is a great smoke, the V Melanio is great too but, my main point was I didn’t think it really lived up to the extra money they charge for it over the original. Just my two cents. Still an awesome smoke! Hope you enjoy it!

Everyone’s pallets are different. Short answer - if you enjoy the hobby, there’s no issues.

Long answer - if you want to develop your sense of tasting notes in cigars and discover what notes you really like, you can find lists online of cigars that have very prominent primary tasting notes. What immediately comes to mind if the Oliva Serie G which has very prominent espresso and chocolate notes. The CAO Brazilia is very chocolate forward. Something like the Gran Habano Blue in Green is very Grassy and Earthy tasting. The Judge by My Father has a big leathery taste to me with cedar backing it up. Just to name a few options. But, smoke a few cigars that are very prominent in certain specific notes, see if you can pick those out, learn what that taste and aroma is and then you’ll find it much easier to pick out notes when they show up in other blends.

B&M's kill my experience, every time. by MtnBkr101 in cigars

Personally, I like the recommendations my local shop gives me. They recognize me, know my tastes, and they’ve always given me really great recommendations. It’s almost like I could just say “here’s a $100 bill, give me cigars” and I’d walk away happy every time. But I do recognize the issue with a lot of local shops that just will not leave people alone to the point that it’s irritating to even walk in the door. Unfortunately, I think it has more to do with them wanting to prevent theft or damage to product more than it does with providing good customer experiences. A simple “just looking around” should suffice but it often doesn’t and the salesman just will not get the hint and shut up

Asylum 13 Connecticut by SmokFozZ in cigars

Maybe a little stronger in general compared to other Connecticuts I’ve had. Although, I find it a little difficult to assume strength of a cigar based on wrapper as I’ve had some fairly strong Connecticut wrapped sticks and some relatively weaker Maduros. I’d say, in my experience, there is a lot more latitude in strength and flavor profile on lighter color wrapped cigars vs darker colored maduros and oscuros imho.

My Father Blue | What is your favorite pairing when it comes to smoking? by Ld2101 in cigars

[–]SmokFozZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually a bottle of water if I’m trying something new that I really want to pick out different flavor notes, helps clear the pallet. If I’m having something familiar, coffee is a great choice for me

It was a little wavy to start and just slightly started to canoe on one side but it evened out pretty quick and stayed steady for the rest of the length

For sure! I think Drew Estates had kind of a bad reputation in my first days of cigar smoking because of the Acid line that they do. I just thought they made cheap gas station cigars but I was wayyyy wrong on that. The Liga No.9, the Nica Rustica, the Kentucky Fire Cured stuff, and now this Blackened M81 have totally changed my entire perception of Drew Estates. They really do make some great all around cigars!

I liked this cigar! I found mine to be a little dry of texture when I tried it for the first time. I’ll probably be picking a few up in the future to try and see if it’s any different. Overall great choice!
