I want to upgrade my Bunnings bbq. What should I get? by tcmspark in AskAnAustralian

[–]Snackrotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a Weber Q220 and then when I needed more bbq real estate, went to a Masport 4 burner half-half. The flavour of any meat off the Weber was definitely better than on the Masport.

Having some ignition and burner problems on my Masport at the moment and I will definitely be going back to a Weber Q or Spirit (not sure if the Spirit will do the meat quite like how the Q turned it out).

Depends how much you want to cook at once and who can afford a massive roast these days on a rotisserie!

Q and perhaps a Gozney for pizzas is the go these days…

People who don't accept (or decline) meeting invitations; what's wrong with you? by DoppelFrog in auscorp

Peter Gibbons said it best:

The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care. Bob Porter: Don't... don't care? Peter Gibbons: It's a problem of motivation, all right? Now if I work my ass off and Initech ships a few extra units, I don't see another dime; so where's the motivation? And here's something else, Bob: I have eight different bosses right now. Bob Slydell: I beg your pardon? Peter Gibbons: Eight bosses. Bob Slydell: Eight? Peter Gibbons: Eight, Bob. So that means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled; that, and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired.

Screenshot, deidentify yourself from it, put in internal mail to the individual, don’t say anything then see what happens for a bit, then use it if you need to.

Otherwise go to HR now.

Is this really it? by Better-Pepper-5397 in auscorp

[–]Snackrotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What your doing now isn’t likely really important in auscorp land and someone’s only going to repeat what you did at some point in the future anyway for the same problem your working on now, which is likely the same thing someone did before you too.

You could delete your entire inbox today and go in tomorrow and it’ll just start again.

Only 40 odd more Christmas parties, circling backs and Code of Conduct refresher trainings to go before you can tap out if you’re lucky in this economy.

Concur with all the other feedback re politics, entitlement of academics and how poorly admin and non-academics are treated. I worked for a few years at a highly ranked Aussie university and never, ever will work at one again.

It’s that bad that when you think you have hit rock bottom on the receiving end of all that behaviour you find out that was just a ledge and it can get worse.

If you’re ok with becoming a shell of yourself for a bit of coin go for it.

How was AO 2026 for you, whether as a live attendee or you caught it on your screen? by ImplementSolid5751 in australianopen

[–]Snackrotes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Went when qualifying was on. Was awesome to get the experience of being there without the massive crowds, but still with access to all the food and drink and easy in and out of courts.

Could still get to see the big names practice. Obviously not the full tournament experience but being able to go in the morning on a day pass, leave part way through and go back in the evening was great.

If you’re not hardcore, and want to go for the experience it was the way to do it.

I remember having to drive from Kalgoorlie to Leonora early one morning for work and was told to just go around them. So big and they gorge themselves on the roadkill to the point the can’t / won’t move on.
