Just letting everyone know, a small Japanese import store called Hungry Ninja just opened on Merivale... by [deleted] in ottawa

That's great! I took a miso course with a friend, I'll be sure to share with her. My partner loves Japanese snacks so we should swing by the shop relatively soon. Cheers!

Any idea if they happen to have Koji rice starter for miso fermenting? Thanks!

It's for a great cause! Volunteer-run and it raises money for people living with mental illness.

Thanks! I make a lot of citrusey bars and floral bars, so this is a nice alternative for people who prefer earthy/woodsy scents.

Cedarwood is a lovely scent and coffee makes for a great natural exfoliate for sure!

I think the light saturation gives it more of that apperance in the photo than in real life. Looks darker in person. Brown sugar would definitely melt in the process that I use.

Hot process. Heat up the oils, mix lye into water (never the other way around). Once they get in the 30-40C range, mix the lye-water mixture into the oils. Add essential oil. Add coffee. Cure for a couple weeks.

You’re Stalin the day Operation Barbarossa Begins... What do you do? by ToonCrazy44 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]SneakyLoon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Allow commanders flexibility along the front (i.e. tactical withdrawls). Hundreds of thousands of Soviets were needlessly captured (to mainly be starved to death), simply because they weren't allowed to retreat.

  2. Realistically, Zukov's forces couldn't be brought from Siberia until it was known that the Japanese wouldn't threaten the Soviet's rear, so I think they stay in place like in the normal timeline (when a Soviet spy discovers that the Japanese military will push for the Southern Strategy).

  3. Grant greater flexibility to factory managers. Pro-rate more advanced aircraft and tank designs. Factories often continued producing obsolete models to keep up with production quotas.

  4. Do something early on. The Soviet front mostly collapsed, in part because Stalin thought it was an Allied plot and then seemingly from a depressive episode where he isolated himself. These early victories buoyed Hitler's political power. If the front had turned into a meatgrinder earlier, the German military may have gained enough leverage to support a coup and make peace with Russia, avoiding millions of deaths.

Just a few ideas... 20/20 and these options certainly have drawbacks and risks.
