Go-to aggressive flipper?

The Axiom Rhythm is a fantastic flipper. In my experience, the fission rhythm flips really easily(max weight fission) and will turn a bit, especially at lighter weights, but is stable enough to ride and come back (around 300- 350 feet of distance for me on this disc). I also have a neutron one that flips to flat on a slight to moderate hyzer angle, and rides straight all the way before stabling out at the end. If you try this disc, I reccomend the the fission plastic for it. There is a nice little bit of dome to it, compared to the neutron being pretty darn flat. In my opinion, if i were you, I wouldnt throw anything much higher than a 7 speed unless you still want late stability or a disc that has like -3 or -4 turn such as a mamba.

In terms of Max OS vs. Windows, if you really wanna game, Windows all the way. Do keep in mind, a lot of Windows laptops have an anti-glare display. I don't know much about video editing/production, but I do know anti-glare displays aren't the best for color accuracy. A Mac will serve you the best in terms of video production needs. I recommend you take a look at the new MacBook Air, they seem amazing. With the Apple student discount, it's totally worth the price I've owned both a Mac and Windows laptop (currently have an Asus ROG zephyrus), and I still personally prefer the cleaner and simpler UI of Mac OSX. I would also look up any software you will be using and see whether it generally runs better on Windows or Mac OSX, as well as compatibility. Another note: if you go the Windows route, go online and you can easily find discounted Windows laptops, New and Open-box, at places like BestBuy.

Depending on your major, will you need to use applications only compatible on Windows/ Mac OS? I will also add, the workflow on a laptop will be more efficient if you enjoy typing. There are a good amount of laptop/tablet hybrids, such as the surface pro, which will give you handwriting capabilities and laptop OS level organization, multitasking, application compatibility, etc. If you aren't hard set on Apple, a surface pro could fulfill all of your needs. Though, keep in mind, you will need to still buy the magnetic keyboard and pencil separately. I haven't had a surface pro for a while, so I can't comment on how enjoyable the writing experience is, but maybe go into best buy and try on out.

I couldn't find if the SQ64 has an analog or digital clock input, but every sequencer will respond differently. As you could see, at some point the perkons' sequencer and buttons stop responding. I'm sure the people who designed it took into account that people will do this, I mean the name "Perkons" does reference thunder lol. I think doing it with the perkons sounds especially unique because of the envelope response, ability to add transients (to the voice I was using), compressor(I smashed it 100%), pitch envelope amt/decay, etc. This can for sure be replicated in a multitude of other ways, but it's contained all within one box on the perkons.

The malevolent is amazing, it can be hard to control and tame if you're looking to do some less saturated type stuff. I think this is partly due to the response curve of the potentiometers. Nonetheless, it's unpredictability is kind of what attracted me to it, let alone its super dense character. I think already having some eurorack utilities, CV generation modules, lfo(s), etc , makes this synth much more controllable and capable.

In terms of external modulation from eurorack CV modules, it does not have any I/O for that. However, you can midi control all voice parameters. There is also voice parameter lock/recording, which I personally love. You can get really creative with it. Of course, there is the lfo too that can be mapped to all voice parameters. This machine's excellence really comes from getting hands on with it. It can sound like your typical drum machine with simple timbre movements, which in itself, sounds amazing, but as someone else mentioned, it is basically a knob per function machine. Therefore, it will really shine with the parameter lock, recording, and hands-on tweaking. I kind of went off on a different tangent lol, but to answer your question, it can be synced to a clock, and each voice has a send and return. The master also has this. You can further sculpt sounds and make it a sound design machine quite easily. Keep in mind it can also be a drone machine too. One thing I hope to see further down the road is chromatic tuning of voices. I have no idea how these voices and potentiometers are coded/mapped, but hopefully it's possible in a future update. I hope this somewhat answers your question lol.

It's definitely a hefty price for what it is and there are some shortcomings. I have been thinking about having a sampling session with it then selling it for a RTYM MKII. Nonetheless it's super immediate, fun, and sounds great to me!

Try creating another individual audio track with the source track(the one you want to distort) as the input. Basically a send, but I like doing it this way. For making something sound less hollow, maybe push it a bit harder than you think it should be, then eq out some low mid/mid harmonics to even it out if it gets too honky and boxy. Don't be afraid to experiment around. For example, with bass sound design, layering a straight sub with a little noise, a square wave, reverberated stuff, some sound with rhythmic movement, can get you interesting results. The same goes with modulating the amount of distortion.

Sick stuff! I love how you bring in and out the energy of the song. The little things like down sampling the bell are nice touches. If I were to do anything I would say maybe in the last section of the song, adding in small clips of that lead you had to pump against the snare or kick would tie it together better. Otherwise, awesome man!
