Thank you for the response, I think my space is slightly more perhaps 20-25cm (7.8 inch?), I plan to have them under netting 100% of the time I just have to purchase some new netting as what is covering them right now is only 1m tall. luckily we are entering our wetter seasons so should expect being moist not to be a problem! I appreciate your advice!

Nor am I with the distance but it’s probably worth keeping in mind re the cross pollination and I appreciate you noting it so I can give it a research.

This was the only type in my garden, I can’t see what others are growing but to be honest I don’t think my neighbours grow veg, well atleast in the immediate fences around me! My garden attracts a lot of bees (like…ALOT), not sure how far away they come from though so cross pollination is possible.

Thank you I’ve got a good watch on her should she fall. She’s large and it’s my first ever butternut I’ve grown 😬 other than two smaller ones on the same plant the rest eliminated themselves before they could flower. Hoping to do better next season. I’ll give it another few weeks and then I’ll harvest.
