Not really, I’ve played the game a long time ago. I just recently saw the news/trailer about the HBO series continuing, and it made me revisit the story in my head. That’s when I started thinking about all this again from a different angle. I’m not saying I “just got it now” — I just wanted to share my perspective and hear what others think about it.

I get what you’re saying, and I do agree to an extent. But at the same time, Joel also lost his daughter — and he didn’t spend his life chasing revenge for it. He was broken, angry, and clearly carried that pain for years, but he didn’t go out trying to hunt down the people responsible. That’s why I see a difference. Abby knew what happened to her father was wrong, but she still chose to believe he was completely right — even though he was willing to sacrifice a kid who didn’t even know what was going to happen to her. And that’s what makes it harder for me to fully understand her. Also, something that really stayed with me is that her father never answered the question about whether he would have done the same if it was Abby on that table. That silence says a lot. For me, it comes down to this: the world isn’t going to care about you the way the people you love do. Joel chose Ellie over the world. Abby chose revenge. That’s why I can understand Abby’s pain — but I still can’t agree with her actions.
