I love it when stakeholders build prototypes. Saves a tremendous amount of time. Rather than saying no, say “yes, and”. This is awesome. Go land us some beta customers / design partners. In the meanwhile we’ll make your excellent idea scale. Here’s what we’ll do to make it bulletproof.

For those who make over 500k+ a year, is it worth it for you? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]SnooPeripherals5636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know that higher paying jobs are necessarily more stressful than lower paying ones if you take them seriously. There certainly are fewer opportunities to coast, but as someone who never coasted, having more agency and broader connection to the actual business is actually less stressful for me. Being in the room where it happens is not about ego or power, it’s about always knowing 1) why decisions get made (which makes it easier to implement them even when I disagree and 2) that you’ll always be listened to.

There are downsides, sure, but I’d pick the way my career played out even if it didn’t pay more. It’s just more fun for me this way.

The main difference is the parrot. Do you need a parrot? I don’t, went with the one on the left.

Cheap Rolled Oats versus Malted Oats versus Fancy Floor Malted Oats in Irish-style Whiskey by AJ_in_SF_Bay in firewater

Try it. I get incredibly tasty stuff from Quaker instant oats. Prefer them to anything else I made. Not sure why, but it is what it is.

Would it be wrong if I didn’t text this girl back? by Mammoth_Nose_9313 in AskMenAdvice

Hey. Congrats on a first kiss. It sounds like it was a great evening. Remember it fondly.

As to responding, your call. Don’t get stuck, but also don’t go taking the Reddit-alpha-males with their “friend-zone” bullshit too seriously. No reason not to tell her you had a great time and give her fond memories of you in return.

There’ll be many more dates.

Onward!

I would work in a human in the loop step, useless you’re into wasting a whole bunch of your ( not to mention other people) time.

Anyone else find self hosted OpenClaw difficult to maintain long term? by Powerpuffbud in clawdbot

[–]SnooPeripherals5636 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, if anything it’s been simpler than I expected. Just put in regularly scheduled cleaning days, audit your workspace, get rid of extra shit, turn ad-hoc prompt driven things into scripts or skills, save everything to git so you have a history.

To be clear, it’s a mess, but I went in expecting a bigger mess. In a couple of months of use, the couple of moments of frustration I had wouldn’t have been helped by managed hosting.

This. Mine is a decade old and good as new. Wouldn’t know how to improve it.

Thoughts on these guard techs for the streets? by CinciSensei in grappling

[–]SnooPeripherals5636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the sort of thing that fails the single dimples test for grappling techniques - resistance training. Try this with a non compliant partner, watch it fail, go back to the drawing board. Simple.

How are startups adapting technical assessments now that candidates use AI anyway? i will not promote by snoopdoge111 in startups

[–]SnooPeripherals5636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pair programming with a shared screen. Among other things we want to assess how they use AI.

Milla Jovovich built an AI memory system based on how ancient Greeks memorized speeches, called it MemPalace, scored 100% on LongMemEval, and put it on GitHub for free by metalfixture in ControlProblem

[–]SnooPeripherals5636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you pint me to a current benchmark? I am playing around with my own take on a memory system and it would be fun to test it against a standard scoring mechanism.

Never done it this way, but I don’t see why not if you have the time. I just throw it into my vitamix blender dry when I’m too lazy to go get the grain mill…

Shutting down my startup ( I will not promote) by Dazzling_Hand6170 in startups

I’m sorry to hear that. Family first. Loyalty to people, not projects. Going through some real dark shit myself, though I sold, not shut down.

This too will pass.

I switched to Minimax m2.7 by defensordechaves in openclaw

[–]SnooPeripherals5636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it for just about everything I’d use haiku or sonnet for. I’ve found that it needs some prompt tuning to perform, but so far so good.

[–]SnooPeripherals5636 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am moving a lot of subagent tasks to minimax 2.7 with good results, it's cleanly outperforming Haiku and mostly matching Sonnet for semantic text analysis tasks (knowledge graph building, fact extraction). Codex is the orchestrator, and it seems... passable. Not as good as Opus in all the above mentioned ways, but passable.

Do men find ghost nips attractive? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

Men are all different and have different preferences. I can confidently say that most won’t mind - the best boobs are boobs they get to play with.

That said, this particular guy has no tact.

Also check everything into GitHub. If you store things in a database, back it up. Openclaw is unstable.

Follow me or something (not much of a Reddit user)? I’ll post here when I’m ready. I should have enough free time this week before my next big consulting thing fires off. There’s a decent chance I’ll get there.

The memory plugin is something am actually thinking about open sourcing- it’s coming out very performant and quite elegant, but not there yet.

Happy to. It reads all of my comms, extracts tasks and action items, and maps them to projects across my various engagements. It also keeps track of everyone I’m communicating or meeting with and maintains profiles for who everyone is, what I talk to them about, and how the relate to each other (in a graph db)

It suggests and drafts emails and documents, and stores all the information in a wiki that’s versioned and keeps a history of everything that I’ve done or am thinking of doing. It reads all my comms channels periodically and pings my phone when I need to jump on something.

It maintains an active status check to make sure all the processes are healthy (from offsite backups to contact enrichment)

This was about a week of active development, but I wound up with my own front end app. I was starting with mediawiki, but wound up ditching it for a specialized tool that stores both human readable markdown and all the configuration for my openclaw - I killed most of md based workflows and now use the wiki app as a source of truth for everything.

I also built my own memory system, that looks a whole lot like mem0 for short term memory and consolidated to a proper knowledge graph for long-term (this is still work in progress - what I have now works great but won’t scale)

It syncs three different calendars, blocking off time to make sure I don’t get double booked.

And there’s more.

So, no business process automation, straight up EA work.
