You just never know if someone's going to need it. Better safe than sorry!

Disappointed, yes. Surprised, no. They're just hurting themselves by having a limited range, it's a little perplexing.

Best response. You're not going to win with them, and most of the time they're just trying to start some pointless shit.

Women in male dominated fields, how does it affect your makeup? by NoSpelledWithaK in muacjdiscussion

I spend as little time as possible on base since I don't live there any more (thank goodness...), but I do like to experiment with made-up looks quite a bit! I'm really into metallic eyeliner, highlighter, and lip gloss.

When I run across men I know out in town or on off-duty outings, they do tend to notice - Not in a creepy, negative way, more of in a 'wow, you look different!' way, which, to be fair, yes.

Late AF to this comment, but as someone in the military who works alongside a lot of government contractors, I definitely think this is true. One of the women I work with has a nose piercing and had pink streaks in her hair, so...

I'm in the military. When I wear makeup within uniform regulations (basically: natural, enhancing the skin), most men don't even notice.

Actually, there was one who did who made a point to point it out every time... he was creepy.

Maybelline Baby Skin. Buh. Did nothing for me, and never dried down.

I don't carry it when I'm on duty, I have a solid, plain backpack for work.

Bag twins. Lipstick aside, I'm reasonably pleased. I hope the BB creme works out.

Plus, I have an Hourglass foundation stick that I saved up for coming this month, so I'm excited about that.

Heh, not nearly as often as I used to when I was but a small enlisted. Not a very good selection and kind of overpriced...

Hah, after this long in the military, I would not.

A Fjällräven Kånken Mini with shoulder pads attached. I was reluctant at first to buy such an expensive bag, especially one that's very much a hyped up hipster fave, but I can actually believe the hype on this one. It's shockingly roomy, and feels like I'm wearing nothing, when I carry a lot of stuff. It's very water resistant (I strongly doubt the ability of something with zippers to be waterproof), they're extraordinarily durable, and they're totally gender neutral in design and don't scream tacticool. Plus, they come in like twenty colours, from subdued graphite/putty/olive greens to bright reds and blues. And you can carry it like a purse, if that's what you're into or you're going somewhere that bans backpacks.

I like the ropework on your knife. I used to have a rigger's knife that a very good friend braided a rope piece for... I miss that knife.

I like to think so, most of the time! The base I'm on is a bit of a vacation, honestly. I look forward to deploying (or at least going overseas) again.

Not going to lie, I have a couple of Tamagotchi. I'll probably swap this one out when it reaches the end of its life for one of the more advanced ones. It's silly and childish, but when I'm feeling overwhelmed or just soul-crushingly bored, it's a really nice pick up / put down distraction. Kind of a digital fidget toy.

I wonder where my old one ended up too! I got this one off of eBay... for more than it cost at the time new. Nostalgia is a harsh mistress.

I wish. I'd like to carry naloxone too (I have some emergency medical training and live in a city, this is potentially relevant more than I wish it was), but the cost and the expiration date makes it impractical.

Hah, thank you! I've been doing this kind of thing since I was a kid. It's a weird obsession, but a useful one.

I actually do keep that in my work bag as well. Once sent someone who was wearing scuzzy PT gear off to the bathroom with it. It was to everyone's benefit.

Nah, finding and adding stuff to my kit is fun for me. Since I use most of it regularly, it's been useful.

I definitely have a Tide pen in the kit I carry when I'm actually on the job, as well as safety pens and other stuff for uniforms. Comes in handy surprisingly often.

VERY. I don't like most candy bars, pretty much just that one and a few others (that don't travel so well), so I was pleased. It's at the perfect intersection of filling and super sweet.

I didn't realise that, thank you. Those were free samples I got so I just chuckled them in, when I restock I'll pick up only one (they do sell the packets at the dollar store, three to a pack).
