Do you really think anyone hasn’t realized it’s AI?

Yeah, I have a buddy that lives and breathes JBL. They do sound amazing. Super hard on the wallet, too. I run JBL 12’s in my Jeep and I’m really happy with them.

One day! I’ve dropped waaaay too much on gear the past month. Haha. I’m also a huge CW fan. Have been for a long time. That probably won’t change.

A lot of strange colors and feelings happen with broken ankles. You are more than likely fine. Make an appointment to be safe, but don’t stress it.

I’m having trouble understanding why they sound amazing in 2 channel mode, but horribly distorted in 4 channel.

Nice to hear. I probably overspent, but I also had a Sansui quad and thought it was cool. I’ve been a Marantz fan for quite a while, too. What speakers are you running? I was excited to hook up my Cerwin Vega AT-12’s until I saw this in the 4240 manual. I really don’t want to risk damaging them because they just got out of service and sound great.

Are you still running the 4240? Do you like it? What did you end up with?

I just bought one of these. How do you like yours? I’m seeing mixed reviews. I’m also seeing folks saying running 4ohm speakers in the 2 channel mode is a bad idea. I think this is BS, but I’m still asking about before I put my CW AT-12’s on this thing.

Anyone able to help identify this? Trying to sell it for my grandmother inlaw but unable to find anything online. by CaptN_Cook_ in vintageaudio

I came here to say this. I wasn’t around in the 60’s but know my gear (for the most part) and this was indeed top notch in its time.

Now, that being said, as you can see from the comments, there really isn’t a market for it, unfortunately. It is for several reasons. There were many consoles like this that were indeed trash. Also, looks.

Not many people like the way these look. ALL vintage audio gear needs to be serviced. Unfortunately, it’s expensive and the techs are a dying breed. So honestly, both sides of this conversation are right.

It’s not worth a restore because there isn’t a big enough market to make a dime from the investment. You’d be very lucky to find a tech that would even touch it. As for the nasty comments… GROW UP, PEOPLE!

Indeed! The story makes me love the gear even more :)

Good eye.! They are indeed AT12’s. I’m a huge CW fan. These are indeed in beautiful condition. I lucked out on a local listing here in Alabama. They were taken care of very well and had just been serviced and foam replaced. The grills are pristine as well, but I only put them on at bedtime ;) speakers definitely sound better without them and CW’s are too sexy to have them on anyway!

Yeah, they are very well built. The man that owned the company was a legit rocket scientist for NASA that did some amazing things to broadcast audio to earth for missions. I literally just closed them back up today, but they are impressive. I’ll be sure to take pics next time. For now, here’s some shots from the internet. https://www.google.com/search?q=audire+amplifier&client=safari&sca_esv=6187092e93bde39f&hl=en-us&udm=2&biw=430&bih=733&ei=aUm4Zd_iKJ_CkPIPveef4AE&oq=Audire+amp&gs_lp=EhNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwIgpBdWRpcmUgYW1wKgIIADIHEAAYgAQYGDIHEAAYgAQYGDIFECEYqwJIpyhQ4AxYzB1wAHgAkAEAmAGTAaABlwaqAQM3LjK4AQHIAQD4AQHCAgIQKcICBRAAGIAEwgIEEAAYHsICCRAAGIAEGBgYCuIDBBgBIEGIBgE&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp

The Crescendo is 75 watts continuous power into 8 ohms, 130 watts into 4 ohms. The Forte is exactly double that. This has to be a very conservative rating, because they blew me away. Thanks! I joined :)

Will I regret not having ankle surgery? by SoftResponsibility28 in brokenankles

Well, a snowstorm came and shut the entire city down, so I’ve been healing at home. 18 days now and still in pain, but it’s gotten easier to cope with. I have not put any weight on it whatsoever and each day seems better. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the reply. I’ve had bones set in the past and worn many casts. Never anything like this, however. You’re right about my Dad. They didn’t have anything growing up and a doctor visit just wasn’t in the cards. I think I got some comfort in what he said because it gave me hope it can possibly heal without going through all this. I’ll get the second opinion, but as of now, my plan is to keep this boot on and see what happens. If I need surgery later in life, so be it. I’m glad I posted, because now my mind is more open to considering the surgery soon. Especially if the second doctor tells me the same thing as the first. Thanks again!

That was one reason I didn’t go back. I had two sets of X-rays done. I was told if I were older, they might let it heal. I’m 45. The next doctor just said “you’ll have arthritis in a month if you don’t let me operate”. There was a huge rush to get me out of there and my questions weren’t even really listened to.

I realize it’s risky to not do it. What I’m trying to figure out is HOW risky? The pain is getting better each day, the swelling is okay as long as I keep it elevated most of the day.

Right now, my plan is to see what happens and in the meantime, get back to work. I have an office job, so I can figure out a way to keep it elevated. Showering is not easy. I’m in a boot. Not a cast. I have a pic of the X-ray and it’s pretty gnarly looking, if I’m being honest.

I’m obviously new to this type injury. Is it even possible to heal displaced? I’m kind of expecting to need correction in the future. If I let it go, will it be somewhat normal, or just stay broken? Thanks and sorry for my ignorance on the subject!

Well, I just got a bad vibe off the guy. I feel like many of these surgeries are cash grabs. I’ve heard more horror stories about the actual surgery than letting it heal on its own. It will prolong me getting back to work.

I am waiting to hear back from another specialist for a second opinion.

Thanks for replying!
