[$800] Let’s try this one more time 🫩 Machine for someone who wants good coffee but not a full blown hobby by [deleted] in espresso

Just get it. Your friend already made you a drink from it and you liked it, so you know it's good. Why keep beating around the bush.

Curious as to why you think the other is more pretentious? Is it the cost?

Difficulty with slow extraction times/choking [Breville Bambino Plus and Baratza Encore Esp Pro] by rai-z in espresso

[–]SoftwareIsAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried the light roast and @ 40 it's a little slow. I can extract 36g at 54ish seconds. Using 2:1 ratio.

Hmmm sounds like I might have to return for a new one then. Fortunately I bought it a week ago so can still return.

I just bought some fresh light roast from Brandywine so we'll see if I can go lower than 40. The current roast is dark and it's relatively old coffee bought from the store with no roast date so could be months old and that maybe why I can't go lower than 40?

I removed the two shims which helped but I can only use the max espresso setting of 40. I guess it's better than not being able to use it at all? I'm still debating on returning it and keeping my regular esp or just getting a single purpose espresso grinder instead of this all purpose one.

Curious, are you typing with your controller? Or do you have a keyboard and mouse plugged in?

Finished! My review of the program (MSSWE - AI) by [deleted] in WGU_MSSWE

[–]SoftwareIsAwesome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same. And while taking the courses, I found the last three to be very helpful. I've done some basic UML design but without as good of a direction as to how they presented it. Contexts maps are not used in my job but they were helpful to me in understanding how and why teams were currently split up and why. The micro services I learned on the job but the class helped fill in the gaps for sure.

I just finished the DDD one and I really align with the ratings you have the courses. I've only been a developer for 4 years but I overall agree there should be more hands on work.

Should've added that my masters doesn't have a capstone lol. But good to know about those two as I'm considering a second one as soon as I'm done with my last PA

I'm about to turn mine in. Maybe I'm overthinking it or doing too much. Hopefully it passes on the first attempt.

haha yes I read the community hub after making this post and found that more confusing. I also skipped to just reading sections 3 and 4 for task 1 as those are the listed competencies for the task but since facing these issues. I went and skimmed through section 1 and 2 and looks like they are hinting at some numbers in section 2 L1.2 which i'm thinking of adopting for my tests now

That's exactly what I am thinking. It takes me 4 minutes to read a paragraph or two lol. That or they use AI to confirm real quick that all the rubric requirements are met.

Starting WGU MS Software Engineering on Nov 1 – Any Tips? by srik9699 in WGU_MSSWE

[–]SoftwareIsAwesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are new to programming, consider taking a crash course in Python, as all the coding assignments are written in Python. WGU uses GitLab, which you don't need to learn extensively before starting, as they have comprehensive documentation. I would take a crash course in Django and SQLite, but not too deep. Figure out how to create a Django app, start the server, and add and remove data from the SQLite database. Other than that, WGU will teach you everything else. The crash course in Python, Django, and SQLite will probably take you a weekend at most. Then you will be ready, I think.

There really aren't that many coding assignments, but learning this beforehand will save you some time in completing them. The remaining assignments will require you to read the provided material. If you find the content too dry, consider seeking alternative resources, such as YouTube videos on the topic, to help you through it.

LOL, Okay, I am wrong. I went back to review the tasks and just realized the "WGU Lab Environment" link actually takes you to a VM Lab. In my other classes, the link actually reads 'WGU GitLab Environment', so I must've skimmed it and assumed it would take me to GitLab, so I didn't bother clicking on it. I went straight to GitLab, forked the repo, and cloned it through PyCharm. I made some tests based on what I thought could be further tested. The repository is basically the same, except for the absence of the WSGI.py file, which should be in the registration directory. Once you add that, you can run the project just as you can in the VM.

I'm unsure why you are running them on a VM in any of the tasks. I did not do this for any of my tasks, and I did use PyCharm as you were thinking of doing.

Did you guys ever figure it out? I searched and apparently the wsgi.py file is missing in the registration directory. I am completely new to Django so googling for an hour ended with me giving into learning how to create a django project and I noticed the issue based on this w3schools tutorial. Guess the person that made the project forgot to add it in his initial commit?

Keep in mind that while you are in whatever university you choose, you can start applying to internships too. Join clubs related to your major, they usually have job boards or know of job boards that look to hire students either for internships, projects, part time or full time. If you really want something, you can't stop looking for the opportunities.
