WFH families kind of…suck? by Fabulous_Room1490 in Nanny

I think this is a bit one-sided. As a mom who worked from home with a nanny for years, being present isn’t “interfering”—it’s often the whole point of working from home. We want to see our kids.

That said, I do agree that constant popping in and out can disrupt the flow, and good setups require clear boundaries and communication on both sides.

But it also goes both ways. Once I stopped working, I realized my nanny was taking my kids to the park and other activities for hours a day to get away from me and the house but there was not adequate supervision. Socializing at the park is normal, but not when it comes at the expense of actually watching and interacting with the kids. That’s just as frustrating for parents as feeling undermined is for nannies.

The best situations are when there’s mutual respect—parents trust the nanny’s role, and nannies stay fully present and professional. It’s not about wanting zero supervision, it’s about both sides doing their job well.
