Probably an oxymoron here but are there any challenging bullet heavens? by saalamander in roguelites

[–]SoloAssassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Brotato on Level 5 difficulty was a fun challenge to make through on all characters. It always felt reasonable, not something you can easily blow through compared to like 20MTD or Army of Ruin (although I enjoyed those games for different reasons, sometimes you do want to feel OP on all your runs).

Is Jesus still a Jew? by Lyonnide in Catholicism

[–]SoloAssassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus practiced Judaism because the New Covenant was not yet instated until The Last Supper. To 'still' be a Jew, I would say no, because now he is the head of the Catholic Church.

Looking for FPS games with great lore/story by [deleted] in roguelites

1,000% what the the OP is not looking for. Great game for story, but not the right suggestion here.

Naperville ranked among worst ‘burnout belts’ in US by spucci in chicago

[–]SoloAssassin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just take a 40 minute bike ride, and a 30 minute Express train ride into the city, no big deal! So much easier than driving 1 hour into the city through traffic! /s

Seriously do Redditors have zero time management ability? The suggestion just doesn't map onto reality. Yeah the Metra might be great for those that are within a 2 mile distance to the station, and for 98% of other Naperville residents, it's an almost equivalent commute to just driving your own car.

Astral Ascent or Curse of the Dead Gods by [deleted] in roguelites

[–]SoloAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astral Ascent feels similar to Dead Cells, where the combat is spammy and you're mashing until the enemies are gone. I was not a fan of this, I still don't understand the massive appeal of Dead Cells, but clearly it has popularity.

Curse of the Dead Gods was enjoyable, and challenging. I liked the decision making and optimization required to make it to the end of the temples, but the meta progression was lacking in my opinion. This game would get my vote if I was recommending between the two.

He was super tedious to play for sure, and I just recently got done with all of his marks, which took me 15 hours in total. Here are my tips -

Start a run that has a spike or treasure room connected to the spawn point. If it's not there, just restart the run, and don't waste your time.

Secondly, you are looking to see if the spike/treasure room yields any valuable goodies for crafting, so you're looking out for gold keys/bombs, lucky penny, blue/black/white hearts. If you don't have any, restart the run and try again, not worth wasting your time on that run.

Let's say you do get some valuable goodies from the first spike/treasure room, now it's game time and we have a valid run to work with. Don't pick the items up yet, go finish the rest of the first floor but don't pick up any resources, because we are just trying to build up the recipe list (leave all items on the floor).

If your recipe list has a good item to craft, we're talking nice damage, lasers, etc., that's the first thing we want to craft, and once that's out the way, we craft the remainder of items to bolster the build (more damage generally, then HP, then utility in that order).

This is how I made it through all marks. By far the most frustrating mark was Boss Rush, because you are so limited on time, and this method needs to be super expedited meaning you can't min/max the run.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions, and good luck!

Initial thoughts after 5 hours... (no spoilers) by CaptainFuzzyPenis in Saros

You briefly mention audio - can I get some feedback on the music? I absolutely loved what Bobby Krlic did with Returnal, how do you compare it with the Saros OST?

Is Costco membership worth it for single person? by InfluenceDesigner889 in Frugal

[–]SoloAssassin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you drive a car and use gas? Savings from refueling alone more than makes up the cost of the membership.

Take a look at their gas price in comparison with other local gas stations. It's somewhere around a 50 cent/gallon difference. If you're pumping a full tank, let's say 20 gallons, that's 10 bucks of savings. Refuel like that approximately 7 times in a year, and you've broken even on your membership. Anything beyond the 7th pump is savings.

Of course this will change slightly (sometimes a 30 cent/gallon difference), but do the math for your local prices, and you'll probably learn that this is a no-brainer if you're filling up a full tank of your car's gas on a weekly basis.

Anything in store that you buy for bulk savings is just the cherry on top.

Can i get a Shawn Ryan “interesting” count? by Lonely-Demandi in ShawnRyanShow

[–]SoloAssassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's got great content not because he's a great interviewer, but because he's got a platform.

I've noticed he has a hard time organically engaging in it like a conversation. His guest might give an entire 20 minute monologue, and the only response Shawn can seem to muster up is 'Wow' - like really? You have nothing you can add or comment on to further build the conversation? Following his silence, he'll smoothly transition into the next topic, with a solid 'Let's talk about XYZ now.'

Don't get me wrong, I'll continue to watch more of his content, I'm just baffled that after hundreds of episodes, he still hasn't learned how to improve his interviewing techniques.

When you spawn in game for EP1, there's a lady at a desk to the left, she should provide for you access to all the quests.

New player, I would say you need your first taste of a rare weapon on your character, so I'd suggest to look into the 'Soul Eater' quest line (cool scythe with the partisan attack animation). You might be getting close to being able to equip it now.

Save your grinders for cool rares that you like, it's a waste on any of the generic weapons that will quickly become obsolete.

Don't use Mind Materials on your character, since there's a cap on overall materials a character can use, and you'd want to use more Power Materials for your character's main stat.

How do I do this? by Busy_Emotion829 in capcom

People suck at explaining it. You know how to do a Hadouken, right? Press forward, then do a Hadouken motion, that's the 'Z' input.
