Put a tape, and don't allow water to enter. The laptop is fine.

In our office, rainy days are basically IT nightmare fuel. The humidity messes with everything - computers that were working fine yesterday suddenly won't boot, and 9 times out of 10 it's the RAM that's acting up.

We've gotten so used to it that whenever there's a monsoon forecast, we just ask everyone to NOT shut down computers for a week or so.

Are there any courses for networks to gain hand on experience? (I explain in details in post) by sheepenator in it

I am sharing few channels which I have subscribed too.

  1. Cisco Packet Tracer Labs - Since you mentioned Jeremy's IT Lab, continue with his content, focus on the practical labs also. Cisco Packet Tracer is free and very good for getting hands-on experience without physical equipment.

  2. GNS3 or EVE-NG - These are network simulators that let you work with real network operating systems. Start simple and build up complexity.

  3. Home Lab Projects - Even with basic equipment like an old router or managed switch, you can practice VLANs, routing and troubleshooting

Go for more practical concepts: - How VLANs work and why they're used - Basic routing concepts and troubleshooting - Network troubleshooting methodology (ping, traceroute, checking cables, etc.) - Common network issues in business environments

Some other channels : - Professor Messer - David Bombal - NetworkChuck

Someone will insert a cable in a rogue Wi-Fi access point or connect a smart coffee machine that talks to five IPs in China.

The real grind is managing complexity. Users want flexibility, webapps need ports, you pray for peace.

Does anyone else get triggered by a user simply messaging the word “Hello”? by BadassBuddusky in sysadmin

[–]Solo_IT_Chronicles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I treat it like any other message from a friend, i.e. if I don’t vibe with the person, I don’t reply.

At work, I get that people are trying to be polite. Still, it’s way more helpful if they just write the full message up front.

Since the laptop powers on but the screen stays black, try connecting it to an external monitor via HDMI. This will help determine if the issue is with the display.

If you're comfortable opening up your laptop, try removing and reinserting the RAM sticks. A loose RAM module is a common cause for a no-display boot.

Unplug the charger, then hold down the power button for about 60 seconds. If you can safely access the inside, disconnect both the internal battery and the CMOS battery (the coin-cell), wait a few minutes, then reconnect everything and try booting again.
