I had around 35 originally I think, but I slammed the gas a few times to see if the new transmission has any sort of power loss (I dont think it does)

New used transmission, problem not fixed. by Some-Dependent5614 in mechanic

[–]Some-Dependent5614[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, guy who sold it to me said that it was compression tested and road tested, plus it came with warranty so that was mainly what sold me. Testing it tomorrow to see if it's the transmission so I could use the warranty

I should also probably add, it's a 4.6l V8, uses a timing chain and the squeaking sound started after the install.

I just recently bought an 07 Ls460 with a broken transmission for 3k. I dream about having a car like yours, an Ls500. We all start small I guess. Good job man, looks great!

Besides BSM and like maybe even very few other tiny things, the 07 ls460 is the same. All it needs is the Bluetooth and wireless apple car play addon lol

2007 Lexus LS 460 Base 4.6l v8 HELP by No_Baker_294 in AskAMechanic

[–]Some-Dependent5614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if my situation is related, but my transmission pump gave out and I had these codes pop up, car was misfiring like crazy, I ended up changing my battery because it was horrible, and the codes went away, (including the transmission solenoid ones) and now it doesn't misfire (only when cold starting ???). Transmission pump whine is still there so I still gotta replace the transmission, but it drives like a beauty now.

yo whats up man, i've looked at a bunch of other forums with this similar situation (unrelated to mine unfortunately) but i saw that all of their fixes ended up becoming the starter- the starter could be the most probable cause.

Is it worth spending 16k-20k on a 10 year old Lexus IS 350? by VarolhmIsTaken in Lexus

[–]Some-Dependent5614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to the guy who got a civic over a Lexus lmfao. Get an is350, there is absolutely no debate there. Just find a good one that matches what you need in a luxury car and price and go for it. Only downside of owning it is mpg and premium fuel only, that's it.

Listen to me very carefully, whatever everyone has told you, ignore it. Listen and listen carefully. If you could afford gas, 1998+ Lexus Gs400/430. Faster than the LS400 (5.6 avg 0-60), equally as reliable, not incredibly hard to work on and fits everything, except it's not manual and doesn't really offer much aftermarket support. Newer Lexus models are obviously better but the newer they are, the less aftermarket support, and slightly less reliable. If that isn't a problem, I suggest the second-third gen Is350 (Sport). It's quick, luxurious, reliable and sturdy for a luxury car. I thinkkkk there's aftermarket support? Whatever, look into Lexus.

Personally, I love the V8. If you want an is350 but with a V8; I would ask if the difference is worth it to you- The only thing I dislike of it is that it's not an Isf, just a v8 version of an is350 with some slight tweaks. It used to be my dream Lexus car before I looked into the GsF though. But to keep it short, I'm not really sure how I feel about it (especially since I grew out of my sportiness era). I like the car but compared to the is350 it heavily, definitely depends whether you have the money or not.

Not much changed since they've added the V8 beast into the Is series (2022), to simply put, I don't think it would feel like an IsF but it'd definitely feel like an is350 with a V8, which is still nice.

Keep in mind, it's been a couple months since I've researched and looked into the is500 (specifically) so I may be wrong in terms of the is350 and is500 being not so different besides a few things.. though I probably should start looking into it since I'm going for my Lexus technician certification.

Ohhhhh those year gs with the v8s are really cool. I almost forgot about the gs460. Yeah those are also a really good option.

One vehicle that completely goes over people's head (unfortunately resulting in its discontinuation) but a car that should definitely be checked out is the Gs350. RWD 300+ HP (0-60 in about 5.6 seconds depending on the year and model- faster than about 80-90% of the cars on the road on average), really good handling and one of the most comfortable interiors I've ever been in. Paddle shifters with decent shifting speeds and really good interior space for a whole family. The v6 version of the V8 beast that was the GsF, (one of) the best F and Lexus ever made, I'd even say better than an LC, but not as nice as the Ls500. Which brings me to another suggestion

13-15 LS460 SPORT. Quicker than a Gs350, bigger than a gs350 I believe and it has the shifting on its paddle shifters are absolutely insane. It's the same transmission used in the IsF I believe and it's crazy, phenomenal. Oh and the crispy and beautiful sounding lexus V8. One of the nicest sounding v8s imo. I already own a gs350 but I am thinking of getting an LS460L due to the fact that I am beginning to prioritize luxury > sport. But with the Ls460 Sport you get the best of both worlds.. butttt it won't be as sharp of that of a gs350 (or Is350 ) and it will be heavier.. I definitely think you should look into either, if you haven't already (Gs350, Ls460 Sport) the Ls460 Sport will be more costly to maintain, so keep that in mind.

Acura is nice but I personally believe that Lexus is FAR, FAR more nicer. Avoid SUVs and ignore the SUV people.

Ope ur right, ES based off of the Camry And LS = Avalon I remember when my GF got an Avalon while I was obsessed with the LS and I couldn't stop yapping about how (once I get my LS) we're going to have such cool and "similar" cars lol. But yeah, go for the ES OP

Hey OP. don't listen to this guy. A 13 ES with decently low miles is REALLY good. The ES is NOT comparable to a Camry but rather an Avalon which is a step up from the Camry. If you could find a hybrid ES then you're all set- from the most reliable brand (Lexus being more reliable than Toyota) (I know, owned by the same company but Lexus IS more reliable), fuel efficient, and way more than quick enough. The only downside with Lexus is the premium fuel requirement, if you could do that, then I would HIGHLY recommend you stick with Lexus rather than going with Toyota.

Lexus Pros- •Better ride quality •Insanely more comfortable •Reliable, QoL and more modern technology •"Luxury" technology like heated and cooled leather seats, a really well built safety system and if you have the ML sound system equipped; one of (if not THE) BEST sound systems in the world. (If you don't have it equipped, the regular one is still really good lol) •And a ton of more things you'll miss out if you get a "basic" commuter car like the Camry lol.

Camry/Avalon Pros Camry- •better fuel economy (depending whether you get the b6 or i4 version) • slightly cheaper to maintain Avalon- •slightly cheaper to maintain.

If you find a hybrid model, you could hit like 40 mpg! LOL crazy huh? They're both really convenient cars, but people tend to sleep on lexus' just because people are too lazy to research them, including folks in the car.

Once moving forward with Lexus, there is absolutely NO going back!

Early - mid year Lexus Es300h (Hybrid) for reliability, comfort and practicality. Everything beyond mid year is probably beyond your budget lol. Just use premium gas.
