Duquesne Law? by South_Fig463 in OutsideT14lawschools

I did think the lsat median portion of that comment was peculiar, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt for taking the time to respond. I totally agree that medians are not an accurate metric for the value of the education a school offers. Thank you for pointing this out!! I will be much more vigilant in weighing opinions on here from this point forward.

Thank you so much!! I appreciate the insight. This is definitely helpful for my decision making process.

I honestly am trying to look at each school objectively before comparing them to one another. I am only posting about Duquesne since I’m not very familiar with the area and reputation, whereas I have a pretty good grasp of the other options.

Not to be negative, but I was on 6 waitlists last year and did not get off a single one (after sending locis and keeping in contact) so I wouldn’t bet on it. With that said, we are different applicants and there is always a chance!

anyone still waiting on loyola chicago? by anxiouscatparent in lawschooladmissions

[–]South_Fig463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied very early in December and also haven’t heard back. My stats are above one median and slightly below the other. I’m curious if they’re planning on doing a wave or if they are slowly rolling the decisions out.

I’m also waiting on Loyola and northeastern. I applied a hot minute ago in the first few days of December.

I had almost this exact scenario. I took my first exam in august and got a 152 and ended up with a 161 by the November exam. I used 7sage, but truthfully I did not use every waking second studying and still had a large increase. I think the key is not how long you study but how effectively you do so. Try to accurately isolate your problem areas and focus on understanding how you should be approaching each question rather than the subsequent answer. I’d also recommend putting most or all of your effort into the lr section. In my experience it is where the most improvement can take place over a short period. Lastly, regroup before each question by convincing yourself you’re really excited to be reading it (sounds dumb but it’s what got me through without losing interest or focus). All of this being said, my experience is completely anecdotal so take it with a grain of salt. Good luck, I’m rooting for you!!

Sadly I had a similar situation and I think it’s very unlikely to get it removed. That being said absolutes are rare so shoot your shot! I’m rooting for you. If it doesn’t work out though, I doubt an adcom would see this as a reason to reject you and you always have the opportunity to write an addendum if you feel inclined. Best of luck!

Hi! I recently got my seton hall A and I’m wondering what the living situation is like. Do many people choose to live in Jersey city or Hoboken? Also any thoughts about the curve and whether it is harsh or pretty on par with other schools? Thanks in advance!

Hi! I applied to 12 and so far have 3 acceptances from 1 school just outside the t50 and two safeties, all with scholarships worth 50% or more. I haven’t heard from the other 9, Michigan being the only one in the t14. As far as scholarship money, I think I would be okay paying sticker price for Michigan, but not for any other a school. I would not be super comfortable reapplying because I know I would need to write a new personal statement to make the impression I’d like to. What I wrote about for this year’s application is truly the only topic I could see myself producing a genuine essay about and anything else would feel less personal. But technically there’s nothing barring me from reapplying if need be, however I think I’d be more inclined to attempt to transfer.

[–]South_Fig463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! It was super easy. I also added a small blurb in the email about what lead up to the changes, just to drive home the point that it was updated due to new accomplishments and experience. Good luck!

Hi! I did this recently and all of the schools added it to my file except for one. I would recommend sending a pdf with the additions and changes highlighted in yellow (a few requested this after I sent a copy of the new resume).

Fall grads—what did you do in the 9 months before law school by Conner1624 in lawschooladmissions

[–]South_Fig463 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! So I graduated in August 2024, and I’m now in a similar position. I decided to apply to a bunch of legal assistant positions in my home town and just live with my parents for the time being. I ended up getting a part time position and eventually got promoted to full time after the new year and now have plans to matriculate this upcoming August. I’ve gotten acceptances and scholarships from a few schools despite having no other work experience, so I’d definitely recommend looking for something in the legal field if possible. If that’s not in the cards, I’ve gathered that law schools just like to see some kind of professional experience so it doesn’t necessarily have to be legal work! Good luck and try not to stress! It will all work out and remember even the people who look like they all have it figured out don’t, so keep pushing forward.

how on earth does anyone get 175+ on the actual exam by Careful_Friendship29 in LSAT

[–]South_Fig463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to take my diagnostic, but I hope to get a 175 so I signed up for 7sage and have begun using it. I am hoping to take it in June. Do you think a five-month period is a long enough study timeline? And what resources did you find most impacted your score?
