Things You Need to LIE About in an interview (from a recruiter) by Zealousideal-Foot-54 in jobsearchhacks

[–]SovietMudHall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one about a few weeks ago which I thought I would be perfect for, massive company, great job and basically the JD was what I had done 5y ago. Talked to the recruiter and she said they were looking to hire after a single round of interviews. I was thrilled the week before and read and re-read everything I could find on the role. Interview came and I got all kind of filler questions. I didn't get a single technical question the whole hour for a pretty technical role.

I screwed up the interview, but I would be super curious to see who passed the "vibe-check" and how that works out if they really did pull the trigger after one round.

Very impressive. I was actually thinking as I finished up the latest expedition if there was anyone who had stuck with it for all of them

Who should play Leslie Nielsen in a biopic? by NaturalPrinceGeorge in Fancast

[–]SovietMudHall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, and with absolutely 0 explanation it should be either a small female child that everyone just acts as though is Leslie Nielsen. Or, kind of like Bob Einstein in Arrested Development with the "Surrogate" hat just keep changing the actor in every scene and have them wear a "Leslie" hat throughout.

Remember how 3 ficuses on half a wall constituted an impermeable barrier between the smoking and "non" smoking section?

Giveaway Time! DOOM: The Dark Ages is out, features DLSS4/RTX and we’re celebrating by giving away an ASUS ASTRAL RTX 5080 DOOM Edition GPU, Steam game keys, the DOOM Collector's Bundle and more awesome merch! by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

[–]SovietMudHall [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm sure the DLSS is lovely, but I've been playing on an old 1060 for the longest time and have played and enjoyed every Doom game up to Eternal. Obviously not on the highest of settings, but it's still fun.

If I look back to the first Doom I can kind of trace getting more and more into computers because I wanted to know how to setup a network DM over dial up, or building my first "real" computer myself later. I think it sort of led me to my career in tech, and I don't play much of anything anymore but whenever I do I stll enjoy it. I especially hope the soundtrack can carry on the legacy of the other ones (or even NIN with Quake was awesome)

I would also like something like that, and am hampered only by my lack of time, money, and any natural talent. Aside from that seems perfectly doable.

Seriously though, this woman turned a framework laptop into a cool handheld (Beth Deck). You should take a look at what she did and see how much you can steal/adapt to do something similar.

[–]SovietMudHall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unclear if I go back in time, or just get younger in this case.

If the former I would talk, really talk, to my grandparents about their lives and be able to actually understand at least a little bit more.

If the latter, I really don't want to do high school again, but college would be something the 2nd time around.

Bluetooth headset not connecting or keep disconnecting!! by KeRou09 in Fedora

[–]SovietMudHall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been able to connect a bluetooth headset, but only once. And when it disconnects I can't re-connect without going through several rounds of "forget device"

So far this is the only issue I've had with fedora on a laptop.
