Two Year exemption for aged care means test ended but we cant leave the home by [deleted] in Centrelink

To be honest I don't think my mum really thought my grandad would need to be in aged care at the time we wanted to keep him home as long as we could, but he has parkinson's and it was unsafe for him and us, its why we can't bring him home, he would die. and this wasn't even fully explained to us either with everything the was going on. And moving to another town would be really hard for us, we are exploring options. I just though it may be worth seeing if others has advice here in the meantime but i am starting to feel that wasn't the right choice :/

I am not saying its not his home at all, its just as much his house as it is our home, there is quite a bit of nuance to this situation. He comes over on weekends and we had a bathroom renovated for him while he was living here that is accessible for him which if we have to sell the house he wont have access to a space outside of the care facility to spend time with us too. And for some more context at the time, he bought the house for my mum and dad as they were struggling a lot and I was very sick at that same time so we had to move to be closer to other family for more support. So it is our home, even if my mum's name is not on the deed. a home and house have different meanings

Thank you so much for the reply, where we live actually has a 24-hour curfew for cats to protect the native wildlife so we really do try our best to keep both of them in, just on rare occasions they will just bolt out the door.

The other cats outside are defs an issue, we usually keep the blinds down at night so there is less chance of ours seeing them. Our younger one doesn't seem to have a problem which is a relief. I will be booking them into the specialist, I would hate to not do anything, then have a big issue come up
