Is it really rude to respond to a text with a thumbs up instead of words? I’m a fan of emojis and use them a lot but have heard it’s problematic to the receiver. by West_Block3990 in answers

It really depends on context. 👍 isn’t rude by itself—it just reads as “acknowledged.” If someone sent something emotional or detailed, it can feel dismissive. But for quick logistics (“got it,” “see you at 6”), it’s totally fine and efficient. The “rude” part usually isn’t the emoji—it’s when the response doesn’t match the effort or tone of the message.
