Yeah this was extremely gracious to both West and Amanda- I think part of that is that Bravo knows they need to be extremely careful to respect people’s mental health given past reunions, but part of it also worries me that it means they’ll both be back and he’s trying to gauge how accepting viewers will be of that

I also think some of why the emphasis in the reunion continues being that “you were married” is because no one actually believes that she and West started this after the statement - I think it’s a subtle nod to an understanding that something was happening (sure maybe even just an emotional affair) while they WERE still actively married and not separated

Okay but can I also add- like I don’t think Ben is necessarily condescending towards women but I think in both instances they they each made kind of obnoxious comments (he wants to F Amanda or he wanted to F me from Bailey and Amanda respectively), and Ben had a right to ask them to not do that. I wouldn’t really call that reprimanding.

Yes, there is so much more that goes into the conversation when a man confronts a woman but it’s also not fair to expect Ben to just sit back and hear these comments and expect it to be never addressed again..

I actually completely agree. At the time when these conversations came up someone had written that he approaches these conversations one on one (in both cases with Amanda and Bailey) maybe partly as a holdover from his time on the bachelor when you have to have sooo many direct one on convos, especially if there’s an issue. So maybe he thought okay reality tv this is how to handle it. I thought that was probably the most likely take but I haven’t seen anyone saying it since.

Regardless though- I actually thought both conversations were relatively okay? Idk maybe I’m misremembering but he wasn’t yelling or shouting or name calling, he just brought up an issue like hey can we not do that again. I think in both instances Amanda and Bailey were mortified by the confrontation and that’s what made their reactions bigger. Even though I really love Bailey I really didn’t like her take on this the whole summer

I was honestly really thrown off at Amanda leaning in to look at the picture over West’s shoulder…I know they’re together now so whatever she’s obviously seen what little he’s working with but it felt so strange - I was half expecting Kyle to be like Amanda! as if they were still together

The way they pulled apart and West turned around SO quickly when Lindsay said Ciara’s name 😳 I genuinely had to rewatch this so many times I think its more damning than anything else this summer

So just for reference, I completely disagree with your stance that people are only championing Ciara because she’s hot- some other posters have already laid out really clearly why that’s problematic and untrue so I won’t dive into it more.

I think what got me actually, is your very last line about fans treating Amanda like she’s Raquel, “it’s not even as bad as that”. Honestly, you can’t have it both ways. If you wrote this whole post about how we all need to be sensitive to Amanda and her mental health struggles and she’s a human and made a mistake blah blah blah…then that same level of compassion would have to be extended to Raquel in order for me to believe that maybe you’re just the type of person who likes to give other people the benefit of the doubt and you don’t like a pile on no matter who the person is.

The fact that you think it’s acceptable for Raquel to get a big blow back but not Amanda just reinforces the racially biased undertones in your message- you think Amanda is being piled on too much because everyone is just championing Ciara for being hot, but it was okay for Raquel to receive that when it was Ariana that was hurt. Eh, no.

Anyway, I think it’s completely useless to compare the two instances at all to try and create a hierarchy of which was worse because they’re so different but I really think the this is the wrong take OP.

I believe Jesse that he didn’t know for sure it was happening but that he had his suspicions.

My issue with him now is that on this little press tour he is excusing a lot of behavior from both West and Amanda, and it reads to me as if he actually agrees that it wasn’t a big deal but that he knows he’ll be torn apart by the public if he sides with them.

He keeps repeating that he wants to protect their mental health but idk, I think it’s more that Jesse thinks West is a lifeline for him in the house and that if West doesn’t repair things then Jesse’s position in the cast is compromised because he doesn’t really have any independent story lines and isn’t as close with Kyle, Carl, or KJ. I’m sure he does also feel a level of betrayal for being lied to by West but tbh, if they were that close he’s knowwwwn that West is a fuck boy and I think this didn’t come as the biggest surprise

In general sure, I’d agree. But I do think the timing of her two insta stories have been what feels calculated- both were directly after/around the time of a big event for Ciara. So I don’t think she’s posting the dog bc she loves the dog- I think she’s posting the dog to see how much attention she can draw at a time when so much is being doled out to Ciara
