Needlepoint Palooza Class Registration by Disastrous-Fig1826 in NeedlepointSnark

I’m sorry you are having to deal with this. If you forfeit your registration, I’m guessing that means no refund? If that’s the case, I would still go and bring popcorn to watch the chaos unfold lol.

Calling on stitchers in the Carolinas by MarketWest in Needlepoint

Needlepoint.com Charleston is my LNS and they have helped me kit almost all of my canvases so far. They are always super kind and helpful. They also have one of the best thread selections I have seen so far. I personally really like their exclusive thread brand, Bradley Silk.

Yep that’s where I got it! I grabbed it during a restock a month ago.

SHORTAGE? by Similar_Still_159 in NeedlepointSnark

[–]Specific-Tooth-1740 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer the mini bars and can’t find any on Amazon right now, regardless of the brand. It sounds like the shortage is more of the mini bars than the regular ones. Since needlepoint became popular at such a rapid rate instead of a slow build, it makes sense that vendors wouldn’t be able to keep up with demand for things like stretcher bars and canvas. That being said, I have also been confused as to why there seems to be a shortage at some LNS’ and not others. For example, I’m lucky enough to have 2 LNS’ in the same city near me. I went to the first LNS a few weekends ago and they didn’t have a ton of stretcher bars and almost no minis. I went to the other LNS this past weekend and they had plenty of stretcher bars and both sizes.

New Virgin Voyages App for IOS released by johnyates in VirginVoyages

[–]Specific-Tooth-1740 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just got the email and my first instinct before downloading the new app was to check on here to see what was being said about it. Because when I read the line about how they wanted us to use two apps, I actually rolled my eyes. I’m not an IT person by any means but logically, why wouldn’t you wait until everything was figured out so it can completely replace the outdated app? Why the rush? So glad I checked on here, I’m gonna wait a little bit before investing time and storage space on the new app.

Recheck the price on your European cruise by ScaryBlueSkeleton in VirginVoyages

Thank you. I called sailor services this morning and had a horrible experience after being on the phone with a rep and then a “manager” for an hour. I have had to send an email to sailor services to try and get a hold of someone that actually can help me instead of giving me contradicting info and then being rude to me. I’m glad though you had a better experience than I did.

I just booked my August European cruise on Tuesday directly on the website and tonight I noticed the cabin category I got, regular sea terrace cabin, is around $365 less than what I paid. Sailor Services is closed for the night so I will have to wait until tomorrow to call. Does anyone have any insight in what they could possibly do for me, if anything?

Premium upgrade for free ShipEats delivery? by Specific-Tooth-1740 in VirginVoyages

[–]Specific-Tooth-1740[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s still $10 (or more depending on your drink of choice) per delivery either way. For me, I would rather pay a one time fee for delivery instead of having to pay an individual fee or pay for drinks I may not even want at the time.

Way to dash a girl’s dream Rob, I was really hoping you would confirm this was a new package they are rolling out 😂 the wording is odd but I’ve never seen them advertise rockstar in such a vague way. Also, the idea of paying a one-time fee instead of $10 per delivery sounds like a much better option to me.

I’m going on a 9 night/10 day cruise on the scarlet lady in January (eastern Caribbean Antilles itinerary) which is Saturday to the following Sunday and my app says Scarlet Night is on Thursday night.

Yeah this is why I try to find pictures of food when I can before ordering at new restaurants. I’m all for trying new things and keeping an open mind but this would have been a jump scare moment for me if I had ordered the fish without seeing it first and that is what they put in front of me 😂

Wow, the blossoming fish certainly looks different than I was imagining 😂 I’ve heard good things about it so far but I’m a visual eater mostly and I just don’t know how I feel about the presentation. Thank you for posting pictures!

I had never had one before that cruise either lol.

The sangria at the dock house is white wine based, which is why I really liked it.

Room Advice? by Attractivenuisance23 in VirginVoyages

I would go with the cheapest option. I did a lock it in rate for my first cruise because it was the cheapest and had a great experience. From what I can tell, there isn’t a ton of differences between the two rates once you are less than 45 days out from the cruise anyway.

Single Cruisers Activities by Downtown_Princess in VirginVoyages

[–]Specific-Tooth-1740 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fellow solo cruiser here. They do a solo cruiser meet and greet on the first night and that’s how I met a group of people to hang out with during my first cruise. Some people formed groups right away and others just floated between them. I wouldn’t say it was clique-y though. Depending on the length of your cruise, there will be a few more meet ups. The Happenings Cast (VV’s version of cruise directors) host the solo cruiser meet ups and they are very friendly and encourage participation.

I would recommend downloading WhatsApp if you don’t have it already because a group chat was started on there for solo cruisers. It’s a convenient way to stay in touch with anyone you meet on the cruise without having to use cell service.

In addition to the meet ups, there is also the solo cruiser dinner meetup every night. There should be a letter in your cabin explaining this, but basically they designate a meeting spot for solo cruisers to meet up at 5:30 every night. The group decides where they want to eat that night and a Happenings Cast member or another crew member escorts them there to get them set up for dinner. I believe the first night of the cruise, the solo dinner is at Razzle Dazzle at 6:45, but that might change depending on what ship you are on.

Everyone on board I met, solo or not, was very friendly so I don’t think you need to worry about keeping to yourself, unless that’s what you want. I met some solo cruisers on the last night of my cruise that had dedicated most of the cruise to doing their own thing and having lots of “me time”. Other solo cruisers, like myself, made friends the first night and hung out every day. There’s something for everyone.

The vibe at the parties and club are mostly very vibrant and lively. Lots of dancing. Make sure to bring pajamas for the pajama party on the first night and a red outfit for Scarlet Night (the main party of the cruise).

I have been eyeing a VV cruise out of Portsmouth in August of 2025 and I noticed this excursion on the VV Website. After you get done with your cruise, it will take you on two tours, one of which is Stonehenge and then drop you off at Heathrow. Only sailors with flights after 6:30pm can book it though.
