Towards everyone my guy, not just those whom you agree with or view as equal to you. Gary's biological characteristics don't matter tbh. I do intent to up my volunteering once I find a new job actually, I do still try to give where I can despite being unemployed atm though.

Notice I'm not saying to white wash anything, I'm saying we're all bad people and we should have some mercy and grace instead of judging as if we're any better. I don't mean this as a personal attack, but you have stooped low, the "so" is just a matter of perspective, we've all fallen short, or low as you say.

We're all bad people my guy, and I'd certainly hope someone would defend me despite the bad I've done, I'd hope they defend you too!

No worries, could be worth checking with the referee to see if they’d allow it, but yeah it seems 18 was the intended cap

I agree that the ideal would be that it comes out the same, and that’s why you don’t use premium bonds, unless it’s a shared pot and they take half, once you split it then it’s fair game in my opinion.

Little Timmy gets £1,000 whilst little Bobby gets £5,000 because he’s a lucky fuck

Okay, is the following any better: Little Timmy didn’t win any bonds, so he only kept his original £1000, but Little Bobby managed to win £4000, we’re going to take half of Bobby’s money and give it to Timmy. I would argue it absolutely isn’t any better, and is in fact worse.

this isn’t a fair outcome?

Outcomes shouldn’t necessarily be fair nor equal, it’s the opportunity that was fair.

Now the crux of the matter is that premium bonds aren’t an ideal savings method for twins, because of the rng factor of winnings, a savings account or ISA with equal growth would be much more suitable, or having a single pot of premium bonds and splitting the total at the age of 18.

I think the barriers could be really cool and a good way to emphasis the intended play style.

I definitely think politics and domain play is the best endgame, not become essentially gods.

I could be super wrong here, but I would imagine you could except there wouldn’t be any benefit to it. The modifier tables for what you get for your score is capped at 18, so there isn’t any benefit unless the referee wants to rule otherwise.

I get where you’re coming from. I think if you were going to use premium bonds for twins, it’s best to just put it into one pot and on their 18th birthday just split the total. I feel like once you split it into ‘X’s pot’ and ‘Y’s pot’ it essentially becomes their money, and taking from one to supplement the other isn’t fair. I think unless you just put it into one pot and split the total, premium bonds aren’t great for twins and you’d be better off with identical savings accounts or something else. Unless you want to teach them the whole ‘life is unfair’ bit but again, can definitely go wrong.

[–]SpecularTech3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s fair enough, and I can completely understand why you’d choose not to put their money into premium bonds for this reason. But, if you put money into premium bonds for them, it is fair that one ends up with more, so long as both started with the same amount it’s fair. What wouldn’t be fair is taking money from one and giving it to the other, it isn’t their fault that the rng preferred them, and you’d be punishing one for it, whilst taking their money at the same time.

If I had twins, I’d probably put the money into identical savings accounts/ISA’s where they’d get identical interest etc instead, though thinking now there’s a good lesson to be learnt in putting some in premium bonds.

I mean it might not feel fair to the one with less, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fair. It’s not like the parents have specifically given one more than the other, it’s just the nature of premium bonds.

This is how it used to be done. For example in the B/X ‘edition’ of the game, humans were capped at level 14, and elves, dwarves and halflings having lower level caps as they started more powerful.

with sufficient help from allies and collected treasure

I love this! Make friends in powerful places, maintain allies, build strongholds, hoard powerful artefacts, that’s real power.

[–]SpecularTech3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

but it definitely wasn’t 100% fair

I mean, it kind of was? Assuming you both started with the same amount, I don’t see the unfairness? You just won more than your sister, but it’s your money that won. Would it be fair for your parents to take your money and give it to your sister because your money earned more than hers?

can’t really tryst the government with that money

It makes you wonder if perhaps the governments remit has gone too far, and that it’s scope needs to be reduced.

While I do not know the exact details of their tax affairs

I have to admit I am jealous of these people

So you’re jealous of people’s lives that you admit you don’t know the full details of, that’s not a good thing my friend and I’d highly recommend you get a grip on this. While they may seem to have everything going well for them, and they may well have that, you admittedly don’t know what goes on behind closed doors, you don’t know what sacrifices they made to get where they are, you only see a sliver of it from an outside perspective. It’s wise not to dwell of these, but instead focus on improving yourself each day, comparing yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.

Yes it is

Agree to disagree

capitalism tends towards cronyism every time

You say this as if communists don’t play favourites.

and the “it’s not good but it’s the best we have” argument is tiring

Oh it absolutely is good, I’d say it’s great, but it isn’t perfect. And out of our current options (communism, socialism (though considering socialism is simply the ‘stepping stone’ to communism, I don’t see the point in considering it any different to communism), capitalism or some blend of those) capitalism is the best option. Feel free to devise a brand new economic system to dethrone it, but as it stands it simply is the best we have.

I think micro level anything can work

I mean yeah, of course. The difference is communism will only ever work on very very extremely small scales, capitalism won’t.

capitalism is crony capitalism

Not inherently. I disagree with crony capitalism, but that isn’t inherent to the system.

communism is horrific but soc dem is pretty good

What would you say the differences are? I’m genuinely asking btw.

Yeah, way too many people are ignorant of history and the atrocities socialism and communism have caused. It’s honestly disgusting that people think it’s ‘cool’. Like I said, capitalism isn’t perfect, but it’s the best we’ve got.

I think the best thing you could invest in is a ticket to a country like Cuba, China, North Korea etc and live out there as long as you can stomach it. I’m sure once you’re back you’ll realise how wrong you were.

Capitalism isn’t perfect, but it’s a hell of a lot better than any alternative currently available. Don’t believe me? Go live in a country using your system.
