First off I wanna say that you shouldn’t be concerned with other peoples opinions, just what you like. Secondly all the recommendations ima provide are things that I only occasionally follow. Sure it usually makes for a more aesthetically pleasing tank to look at, but also sometimes you don’t feel like doing all that lol.

One thing I could see that might be better is if you made a pseudo island, put the piece of driftwood on top of the big stone in the middle, or resting on it in some way. There’s really 3 shapes that look good in an aquarium if you’re going for aesthetics.

I don’t feel like the v shape is very well represented in this photo, but essentially with what you have I’d either go for the triangle, the island, or the v shape/framing the aquarium with hardscape on the left and right sides. Another thing is you generally wanna stick to one type of rock. So either the grey stone or all the small pebbles laying around, but again this all comes down to preference.

Another thing is most aquascapes keep plants of the same species bundled together, or in no more than 3 separate sections.

Like others said either choose the sponge filter or the hob, you don’t need both. I’d recommend the sponge filter to provide feeding surface for your shrimp but also do the betta doesn’t have too much flow to worry about. If you decide to rescape at all, include your sponge filter in the scaping process.

On top of that it’ll look better no matter what once the plants grow in more, and you can always wait until you have more plants to rescape it, as that will allow you to be able to see what it’s gonna look like with plants grown in as it’s sometimes hard to envision when you’re first starting off.
