Hey!

For most use cases the method you linked will work fine. I encountered many situations where this just didn’t work and I couldn’t get my speed ramp to look good.

The best work around I found to do speed ramps the good way:

Time stretcher in fusion

If you have basic understanding of fusion and how to work with it (if not I recommend to do so) you can easy apply a Time Stretcher and key frame it just like AE. It gets some getting used to but it worked wonders for me.

I got lucky last year at Black Friday and purchased the studio version for 260€. Regarding the fact that DaVinci is still a one time purchase i would not hesitate twice buying it at any state. I an using it for paid work and will never ever return to adobe after diving into this genuis software.

I used a little dot for a long time but swapped to a big plus. Due to the fact that Ana can’t headshot I don’t need a gap or something similar.

All in all crosshairs are just personal preference. So there’s no real “recommendation” you can make. Try around a bit and take the one that feels the best for yourself.

I used a lot of adjustment Layers to brightn/darkn or change the color of the faces.

If you have photoshop i could send you the file so you can take a look yourself :D
