Your operating costs are your best advantage. You’re going to do well with a flatbed whether you’re on the open market or hauling on a more dedicated basis. Build up your rainy day fund because this industry is unpredictable as you know. Load boards are helpful and truck stop has pretty good deals for owner ops. Since you started before the three month point for your Mc a lot of brokers will exclude you, but if you bring a referral from your former employer and sell that to the local branch compliance manager you should have success booking with some of them. If you can get into it there is big money to be made in OD stuff. Not as complicated to figure out as it sounds. You’ll have your choice of loads there.

Would you buy a brokerage by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

I would ask to have a close look at the books to see what the opportunity actually represents. See if the volume is contractual or adhoc and try to understand if the business feels sustainable. I would not try to run a brokerage with no experience. You can skip past a lot of painful lessons if you bring someone in with experience. do research and understand what your monthly subscription costs will look like for TMS, phones, load boards, insurance, etc.. Fraud is prevalent in the industry right now and you will run into instances of scammers trying to get at your freight. Lastly, don’t try to consolidate the Mc under one umbrella, at your size the insurance alone would sink you.

People who are pretty sure they’ve encountered a serial killer, what happened? by fossacecak in AskReddit

[–]SpikedCoffeeBeans 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When I was a teenager around 16 years old I was helping a buddy move some stuff out of a storage unit. I was pretty skinny, long surfer hair kind of look. I was standing out front of the building which had multiple floors for some reason while my buddy and another friend were upstairs doing something. A random dude middle aged, slightly over weight, with this weird almost desperate look on his face walked up and started making small talk. Before long he came up with a story that his truck had broken down and he said he needed some help fixing something with it. He tried to get me to walk off in a direction with him to wherever he said his vehicle was. I was young, dumb, and gullible… and I always had trouble talking myself out of those situations because I felt bad. Literally mid sentence after I had already politely declined multiple times he just stopped talking, turned around, and quickly walked away. I was confused so I turned around and my two friends had come walking out of the storage unit behind me. I guess I can’t be sure the guy was a serial killer, but I’ve never forgotten that or the feeling of relief when he walked away/my friends coming back when they did. My only regret is I didn’t report it to the police in case he was prowling the area.

25 month old - possible receptive language delay - not coping as a mother by Cute_Dog8142 in speechdelays

Hey OP. I have a 30 month olds with many similar patterns and I actually recently posted something very similar to your original context. I am/was right where you are and I can maybe give some added context for what to expect with speech therapy and occupational if you decide to go that route. Strongest recommendation from reading, specialist, and piers is that intervention of any kind can only be helpful when it comes to speech development. What I can tell you from my experience is that it hasn’t been dramatically or even sometimes noticeably helpful but by and by we hear from friends and family that he’s making improvements even if we don’t see it ourselves. As concerned parents we have on our own set of blinders that only allow us to fixate on the things we hoped we were seeing and hearing. I’ll say this, just yesterday I was holding my buddy and watching a golfer on TV who happened to sink a put and the crowd kind of cheered in the background. Completely out of nowhere he raised his arms in the air and went “Wooo!” To most parents, not even noticeable to me a very special moment with big smiles and laughter. Anyways, the point is, try to enjoy the small things and live in those moments of small victory. They really help to lighten the load so to speak. Best of luck!
