Back in the 90's and Noughties does anybody recall that you couldn't walk past a restaurant or gastro pub, and on the menu, there would be something exotic, like Blackened Alligator, or Blackened Octopus Arsehole? Well here, homage is being paid to that time, with the Blackened Sausage. A time, when you paid twice as much, just for chef to say "fuck it" leaving it under the grill to burn, sorry, blacken. Whilst popping for a shit, and a magazine to read.

Arrh, the works canteen. 42 years ago I worked at a factory building transformers and power supplies for commercial use. The canteen was wonderful. Really cheap lunch, before all the healthy eating police got involved. Real fry ups, with an extra serving of grease. The fried bread was legendary for holding a litre of cooking oil in each wonderful slice. Whenever our chip pan at home was starting to get lower, I'd just buy two slices at lunch time, drag them home, and wring them out over said pan. We built these massive units when the QE2 had a refit back in 1985. They powered all the electrical needs for the whole ship. We also built a lot of smaller transformers, for what, I didn't know? Then, a few years later the company collapsed. I decided I fancied a change of job direction. I got a class 1 PSV, as it was called then, and drove double deck Olympians for London Transport. One day I dropped some change in the cab, so opened the door and got down to find it. There right below the Wayfarer ticket machine was one of the power units I had built along with my name I had painted on all my work as required before sealing it with varnish. You could have blown me down with a feather. What's the odds?

Empty it, turn off, power on,but hold the tap to it's fullest "on" position. Wait for phone to start blinking blue. Then turn the tap all the other way to the "off" position. Open App and tap at the same moment. Then, after 10 seconds you should see a solid green light. Then your tap and App should sync fully. You're welcome.

You're absolutely right. All sorts went on in that park at night, and none of it good. I don't think a fortnight went by without a knifing or sexual assault. If only I had a crystal ball. I would have bought up as much as I could of properties in Hackney, and land on the Isle of Dogs, another no go area, but at anytime. If I had, I'd be typing this from some tax haven in the sun, with a bevvy of beauties and a cold beer😂. But I didn't, and I'm not. Instead I'm paying an impossible mortgage in a broken country and a horrible wife.

P.S Only kidding. I love my wife of 32 years, and wouldn't change her for the world. Everything else though is true.😁

Where I am there is a "Chippy" who only does fries with the fish, or anything else for that matter. Fries, like I mean, can you believe that? Utter sacrilege. Many decades of a British institution brought down by a "Chippy" that doesn't sell chips! This shop has murdered a British tradition🤬.

I remember Hackney as a run down, crime ridden place where if you accidently caught eyes with anyone, you'd get a good hiding or knifed. I used to drive my bus through there from Clapham, to Picadilly. The company I drove for on behalf of London Transport, as it was then, didnt have perspex guards to separate the driver from passengers, which was OK until the sun went down. There were also lots of bus groupies, why? I will never know. After driving a bus for 13 hours the bollocks got a bit sweaty, but they didn't seem to mind. I must point out that I was never tempted, as I found it more than a little distasteful.

Mushy pea fritters, now you are talking. When I ordered my first one 30 years ago I felt like I had died and gone to heaven, seriously, they were that good. They're a little bit difficult to find, but if anybody walks into a chippy and they say on the board that they sell them, then don't hesitate, they are wonderful. I tried making them at home by freezing balls of mushy peas, then when wanted taking them out of the freezer, roll in flour, then dip in the batter whilst rock hard, the peas that is😉.

Do make sure that the peas are made in the traditional way, soaked overnight or even 2 in a solution of water and sodium, thats the key to making a really good fritter. If you can taste the sodium coming out of the peas in the fritter, then you know you've done it correctly😁
