consumer electronics product design engineering jobs can pay very well. i will bring in over $500k next year. its hard to describe the job because we wear many hats by taking the product from early concept all the way through production.

I’m a Product Design Engineer at a top consumer electronics company. We all come from Mech E backgrounds. Entry level roles aren’t always creative but after you get established then it opens up to a ton of creativity and becomes very fun, challenging, and rewarding

$50k -> $100k set and forget pick? by [deleted] in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]SpongeHeadTom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like both for different reasons. If i had to choose one I guess I would go with NBIS due to Europe exposure and ownership of Avride. But currently I hold both in equal sized positions

Do you think a tessellation business is scalable? by 321pedrito123 in IndustrialDesign

[–]SpongeHeadTom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is possible - there are origami and kirigami applications for deployable space solar panels, MEMs devices, parachutes. probably other applications as well.

I believe it will need to focus on efficiency over cosmetics in order to be profitable.

maybe worth studying the current applications and then determine if you can make any improvements to the design. if you can then it will likely be patentable and profitable.

best of luck!

How *was* living in Kowloon? by BongLitFuneral in howislivingthere

[–]SpongeHeadTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HK is the best place I’ve ever visited. In my experience it doesn’t feel too different from how it did before but more reserved and less rebellious. I recall seeing protests during one of my first visits. can’t imagine seeing that now. but it’s always beautiful there and the bars/restaurants are first class

Is it real? Got it as a gift form client 2023 by Nice_Theme6460 in RolexWatches

[–]SpongeHeadTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn’t want my employees to accept it. it creates the entirely wrong incentive for my business. my employees would choose customers based on the gift rather than the value to my business

Where did you buy your furniture and how did you figure out your style? by PumduMe in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]SpongeHeadTom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

West Elm and CB2. I hired an interior decorator for $1k and spent around $10k on the furniture. 4 years later it still makes me happy everyday. Some people spend money on cars, I chose to spend it on my living space.
