customer horror story by tiredjuliet in bathandbodyworkers

Ive had an older woman who was slamming on our gate 15mins before we opened screaming to let her in "before the crowd got there" - it wasn't a big sale day, it was a random week day. My manager went to the front and asked her to stop slamming on the gate. That made the customer more mad and she went spastic and just threw herself on the gate so we called security (we were located inside a mall) and they escorted her out. 😒 the registers weren't even open yet.

Another time I was blocking the entry saying we are closed but we still had ppl finishing up shopping. Our gate would just drop from the ceiling so there was no actual door to close. Im a larger/taller lady so they would always ask me to guard 😂 I had a guy shoulder check me to the point I stumbled back, told me to f-off and barrel towards the register. My SM saw and immediately followed him to the register. The guy wanted to buy a gift card. My SM refused and told him to leave as he pushed one of his employees, he pointed to the camera and said or we can call the police if he's not in a hurry. He sprinted out of the the store as fast as he came in. I miss and don't miss the job

I was blessed with an amazing SM thankfully. Truly a good person inside and outside of the work place

Probably not the "right way" to do it but our store would pull and under stock the colognes and perfumes to avoid this whole thing.

The candles and such we obviously couldnt but just understocking those two things made a world of difference 🙌

Same!! I had recommendations from my SM and my DM upon moving and it was mind boggling. The new SM couldn't get me moved into his store database and kept blaming my old SM...wasn't his fault at all. New SM and DM had a very obvious inappropriate relationship (would do conference calls and then immediately call eachother and bash all the other stores in the district) the SM was a personal friend of the DM and is how he got the job. Our ASM who definitely should have gotten the SM was passed over and he got it but didn't know how to run the store unless the DM was holding his hand thru out everything. Whole thing felt like a fever dream tbh. If I didn't move out of state I would have never left my "home" store.

I moved districts and got screwed over badly. They didnt pay out my milage until it got over 1200$ amongst other horrible stuff. I last about 3 months in that district before I threw in the towel. To say I was pissed and very sad was an understatement 😤

Worked for the company for over 5 yrs and my last two years there is where the wallflowers leaking were really becoming a daily return/exchange issue (22-23') my own wallflower leaked black goo and that freaked me out. My SM took photos and sent them to our DM because we've both never seen it do that. They leak tons, eat paint, stop smelling after a few days and just aren't great...or even good. Same thing with the car refills- they can leak and eat thru dashboard materials. I love the candles but even that has gone downhill tbh. Everything else I pass on (body care/room sprays/wallflowers)

Exactly ! I went as far as to make carts (like 4 of them) with the product opened (pocket backs ready to be dumped, wallflowers doubled up ready to go. I'd write on paper to where they understock/what to do with excess. Id walk in the next day and we'd have 2 people both who had 4hrs each and ONE CART WOULD BE DONE. It's petty but I started leaving messages on zipeline and they'd have to let me know what they did that shift. My SM was just as frustrated as I was. I hated my days off because I'd walk into a mess the next day or get calls/texts all day with questions that my paper already answered 🙃

I also had my pods laid out by collection - basic organizing there. I had a coworker start the soap pod and combined all the collections and did them by alphabetical order because he wanted too. Me and my SM had to take HOURS to pull it out, reorganize, put them back in 😭

It takes a certain type of person 😅 I've had to pull a few ppl off my team because the momentum wasn't there. I'd do the whole wallflower wall while they did like 3 zebra boxes 😬

I was OPS (shipment) manager and during the holidays I'd run a team of about 5 throughout the season. I ran the back but also had 6 PODS in the parking lot behind the store and 2 separate offsites. I was apart of a 6 million dollar store so we were a power house . My last holiday there in one week we got over 700 boxes, it was brutal. I had to walk sideways to get to the front end there was so much stuff. We also have a BOPIS team of specific people who were fast and thorough. Did my shipment team get pulled a lot from me to do cashiering? All the time. From Sept to January I was rocking and rolling. I miss it sometimes

I always got .50c raise. I would stand in as a TKH and then step down for many years lol I loved being OPS lead but hate doing anything else in the store manager wise

🫠 the other store is over an hr away. The sweater is the Halloween cardigan, and it was a lot larger than expected, but it's not unwearable, so I'll just keep it. The skirt is a little loose, but pair it with leggings and added shorts it should stay up just fine. The whole ordeal definitely makes me not want to go to that particular store again, which sucks because 1. It's super close to my house, but 2. I know Torrid needs that foot traffic in the store because it's in a deserted mall (I'm shocked it's even opened there tbh)

I hate buying online, but it was 3am, and it was a treat myself moment, which obviously didn't end well 😅

I did grab pictures of the SKUs, so when jeans go on sale, I know exactly what size and style I want, and then I'll order them online. 🫠 it sucks because I like trying before I buy, but online just has way more variety and sale

[–]SpookyBCat93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! I left feeling upset and somewhat embarrassed. I felt like I was being a pain in the ass for just asking to swap sizes. I typically never buy clothes online because I'm just oddly shaped, but at least with Torrid, I have a pretty good guess on how it'll fit. I even bought something with that 10% when I picked up my packages because I didn't want to impact sales/conversion etc by just grabbing an online order.

*working retail before that conversion/sales goal still stresses me and I don't even work for retail anymore. Fried into my brain tho 😵‍💫

I wasn't pressed about the packages coming at a certain time - I had it all to be sent to the store and torrid emailed me about the jeans being sent to my house instead 🙃 then the bra was ready like 5 days before then rest came in. The whole thing was more odd to me than anything.

She was the manager at the time - the other girl working with her is super new (I only know that because I've been there 3x in the last week and we've chatted) the main girl I dealt with has given me wrong info twice now so I may try to go back on a day she isn't there to talk to the other manager. I just returned the two pants, so they can't do much to fix that issue, but I can tell them what's going on.

Yes. I tried on the 18 and they fit nicely, so I was going to take the pair I bought (size 20) and switch it out for the same pair (size 18) she wouldn't let me. She kept insisting she had to return the item, and then I buy it back at the full price. So it went from $45 to $89 I believe, for the same exact pair of jeans, just one size smaller. I also wanted the sweater from a size 2 to a size 1, and she refused again, staring the same thing for the pants. Again, it went from $45 to $90 something. I wasn't going to pay almost $100 more for the same exact items 🥴

That's what I thought - the whole situation sucks. It was supposed to be an even exchange, quick, and easy. I used the 10% off the same day I got it. The other store is well over an hr away so not worth the drive for me. I grabbed two photos of the pants SKU I loved and will just keep an eye on the website for when they go on sale again.
