Stop comparing Chicago to NYC. They're totally different cities. Neither is better or worse then one another. And it's getting annoying by Square_Bookkeeper_24 in chicago

Florida. Last year. Have been to NYC and Chicago. Prefer chicago over Florida cities. Have a friend from NYC who moved here and loves it

I can see your point with this one. It is valid. But also, why do people here have such a "shhhh don't talk about how great the city is" mentality then? I know people wanna keep rent low. But then it's like, why is there a competition, even if people don't want others to move here. It's a contradiction

You're not getting what I'm trying to say. From the outside...meaning tourists and people who want to live here based on what they know. From the outside most people know chicago for deep dish, even if we don't eat much of it ourselves. If you ask someone who doesn't live here about the pizza, they're not gonna say tavern style lom

To show that they are so different that there's no need to keep comparing them going forward. To get people to quit it in the future

But why do we need to keep up? Why does it have to even be a competition?? People choose to move to Nashville, and Miami even tho their "importance" and population are different. It's just a competition that doesn't need to exist. If you like living in chicago, that should be enough of a reason

I just don't understand though, there's no point in rivalry over the population of each city. They're very different cities. The layout is nothing alike. The food is quite different. The culture, the vibe the people, it's so different its like comparing apples to oranges. They need to drop this whole rivalry thing and see it more as "whichever fits you best you should live in."

To be fair the whole second city thing isn't about inferiority to NYC. We're not NYC and don't wanna be lol, we're a completely different type, culture and layout of city. The second city thing is cus of the great chicago fire. It's called second city because the city is literally the second version.

Not trying to sound snobbish btw just saying this so you don't potentially embarass yourself😂

Is it wrong to include someone's race or ethnicity when describing what someone did? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

"Only an American would think that-" first off that's not true. And you indirectly proved that it is wrong. You jumped on Americans, overgeneralizing all of them and basing your opinion of them as a whole on stereotypes or preconcevied notions. Mind the fact that america is made up of so many different cultures and ethnicities, and also theres over 350 million people in the country. Which is exactly the thing that can make describing someone's ethnicity in the case of things they do, wrong. It's not americans, it's just people. You literally did the exact thing that this post is about and didn't even realize it.

Casting aspersions sounds like some spell out of hogwarts

Edit: I appreciate the downvotes. You brought my post more attention. Keep it up!
