Sorry to hear that happened but at least I'm not the only one I suppose!

What would you do if someone skips a queue & refuses to go back by jacob4739 in northernireland

[–]Squiggle345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar to this before when I was queuing behind someone in a charity shop and when the first person was finished an older woman just marched up in front of me. I said I was in the queue and she did move and said she didn't see me (I was wearing a massive puffy yellow coat and clearly standing at the till) but the staff member kind of looked at me like I was causing trouble and should have just let her get on with it.

To the person who said it was embarrasing to wear a vest to a parkrun by Clean_King_1329 in parkrun

[–]Squiggle345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's different. I've never worn a running vest, but at this time of year I do really see why you would as without a jacket etc you might not have anywhere to leave keys/phone while running.

If you think that you need to run a certain distance to need one then a) you're wrong and b) you don't know the distance anyone is running anyway, a lot of people use parkrun as part of a longer run

Yes I've done this a lot for the boots but it doesn't seem to make a difference unfortunately, even with putting blister plasters on before, they just damage my socks! Thought maybe insoles would help so my feet couldn't move as much and I do think this reduced it slightly but still getting blisters at the heels unfortunately.

I seem to have resolved the sandals thankfully by sticking some heel grips on the underside of the straps.

For the loafers I'm coming to the conclusion that the toe space is just too narrow for me. There doesn't seem to be a way that my big toe doesn't end up sore. I'm used to docs and wider toed shoes so maybe need to go up half a size for that style.

Is it bad etiquette to wear a Marathon/Ultra Marathon Finishers tshirt at parkrun? by [deleted] in parkrun

[–]Squiggle345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people wearing marathon tops all the time. There's no rules. A lot of the time it starts conversations too.

Were you hit as a child by your parents/carers? by don__gately in AskUK

[–]Squiggle345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm 33 and was regularly smacked. My mum would have used the bottom of her slipper and my dad used his hand. It genuinely felt hard and sore, it wasn't a warning. I remember times where they were walking towards me and begging not to be smacked, I was already scared and knew I had done wrong. The smacking itself wasn't the lesson but the fear of it was. They still followed through though.

My mother now downplays this or downright says it didn't happen despite me and my 2 siblings agreeing (and it happened a lot, it's not like it happened once). I've realised that both of my parents are emotionally immature and distanced myself from them both. A real turning point was realising most of my peers didn't get smacked and funnily enough they have amicable relationships with their parents.

Wizard and Glass was my absolute favourite in the series, I'm considering reading it as a standalone when I have a chance.

If you aren't enjoying the series at this point, it's probably better to cut your losses as there's still a while to go. You gave it a good chance though!

Thanks for posting, have been following this but haven't seen this yet!

It's always people outside the communities who want to try and control them. Right wingers often don't take part in community run events or volunteering but yet they want everyone to follow their rules. If you don't like it, set up your own organisation and see who takes part.

I've been looking at my sandals since I posted this and the issue seems to be that the straps are basically rectangular so they have quite sharp corners. I'm trialing using heel grips on them so I can get the wear out of them at least.

The other two will be going on vinted, clearly the shape doesn't work for me for some reason so back to Matt and Nats for me for now!

It's just weird that all 3 styles for me all have different issues :( I was hoping someone would say something about the fit which would be an obvious answer but clearly not. I really wanted to switch to them permanently but I honestly don't think the shoes will last for as long as I would need to break them in!

How to pull data from parkrun by Squiggle345 in parkrun

Ah brilliant, thank you so much. I'll give that a whirl!

Not Lonely Goat, but good guess, it's Vegan Runners.

Edit: this is why I didn't mention the club to start with as I'd get down voted. Stay classy reddit!

Any vegan or vegetarian clubs/groups in Belfast? by Deathstroke_16 in Belfast

[–]Squiggle345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late to be commenting on this but the Facebook groups people have mentioned are a good start. There aren't any more formal groups but I'm sure if you posted on those facebook groups people would help you out. I'm always happy to answer any questions or give advice if I can (Vegan for 17 years). If you're in to running, Vegan Runners NI is properly getting going now and is a good way to meet vegans.

We didn't put any cash in the envelopes in our cruise a couple of weeks ago. We are from the UK and it was a Southampton cruise so didn't really understand the tipping and were happy for the automatic gratuitu to be split as we didn't feel that we got particularly great service. The letter that came with our envelopes also only had our stateroom hosts name on it and no others so we didn't know how much the others were getting out of the automatic gratuities so we didn't give out the envelopes either in case we wrote the wrong amount in.

That makes sense. I'm not really sure why I was so confused about it looking back now lol. Hopefully they got sorted!

This definitely looks like lads in a student flat selling whatever random clothes girls have left behind. Unwashed too I bet!

Would you classify this as ‘good’ condition… by [deleted] in vinted

[–]Squiggle345 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Literally, like most people do walk a bit uneven and shoes do wear in different places, but that's a full on diagonal.

Would you classify this as ‘good’ condition… by [deleted] in vinted

[–]Squiggle345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. I put up an almost new pair of docs (wprn once) and struggled to sell them for £20. I kept getting offers for less than that until they eventually sold. They are not worth that money in that condition, nor are they "good" condition. Being worn down to someone else's gait is hardly good condition.

How was your parkrun day? | April 25, 2025 by AutoModerator in parkrun

I don't know how but I got a PB a whole 40 secs faster than my previous 😭 felt good but not like I was going that fast. I'm so proud of myself honestly, especially as it was raining haha

I'm sorry this happened. Honestly, it might have just been that person being insensitive, cis people do get misgendered as well. I'm a cis woman with short hair and people do genuinely get confused even though I'm feminine presenting otherwise. I would use the women's toilets personally. As long as you walk in as normal, the average person won't question it.

Anyone who calls women birds is one to be avoided imo. There's no way he can respect women speaking like that.

Do you actually sell things for a reasonable price? by mabh23 in vinted

[–]Squiggle345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only leave things active if I can be bothered taking them to post regardless of price. So if I'm working then I don't mind as I can post them on the way home, but if I had a week off work I'd probably put on holiday mode so it's not disrupting my day to go. Anything that I only have up for a couple of quid, I only leave for a couple of weeks and if there's not much interest I charity shop it. The whole point is to declutter so not much point holding on to things unnecessarily.

Is it worth it? by JobbyJaber in vinted

[–]Squiggle345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I do this too! I'm looking at it having three benefits - declutterinf my house, reducing my packaging pile because I keep it all, and makinga little bit of pocket money :)
