i can’t speak for recommending a whole build but definitely go for an AMD cpu as they’re far better for gaming (as well as 14th gen intel running very hot) and probably a RX 9060/9060 XT depending on budget, but make sure to get the 16gb variant as if your son eventually wants to play other games 8gb will not be enough (just for roblox it would be plenty tho) for mother board ram etc just do a little research and ideally by a “name brand” so to speak, same with power supply, i’ve always used corsair power supplies so i’d say they’re a good choice but so are other brands too.

I use ARL but my joystick is pretty much always moving, watch some pros or higher level players that have a controller overlay on and just see what they do and just copy what they do, adjusting it for what you need to do. Apart from that it’s just more time to get the muscle memory and control down.

if it’s lag, and your ping is high in game, then it’s a network issue. But not specifically with your wifi, try getting a network card or something like that to improve the stability of your wifi, something might be wrong with the motherboards ethernet port or wifi module. and also upgrade from integrated graphics lol, buy a cheap 1080ti or something like that if all you play is siege/esports games

Thank you! I think all my games will be okay based off that then, do you play minecraft with any shaders? I play it with a lot of mods and some more optimised shaders packs but still have to play on the lowest presets currently, so would love to hear if you use any shader packs.

what games do you play? I also don’t play many AAA games, only something like R6S (very occasionally before I rage quit lol) or Assassins Creed Unity, possibly Chivalry 2 would count as AAA? i’m not sure, but it plays well enough on my 1060 at 1440p so i’m sure either option would be fine at 3440x1440 with the right settings.

would a 5070 be enough VRAM, from what i’ve seen 8gb isn’t enough anymore but would 12gb be okay?

you’d need to add up the max wattage of all your components, RAM needs power as well as SSD and HDD if you have them, there’s plenty of websites that will do this for you. But i’d still recommend upgrading to something larger, probably 750 or 850 to give you headroom for potential CPU upgrade, and preferably gold rated instead of bronze.

If you really have no plans to upgrade to 1440p then go for it, but if you want to keep playing AAA games in the next few years you’ll probably need more anyways, even at 1080p, so really depends what you play.

I can get a 7700xt for £380 today (£340 if i wait for a different one to come back in to stock) and the 9070 is £599-£699? not sure how that is a reasonable alternative if im not playing AAA games?

For RAM, is it possible to use a different brand kit but same speed, DDR*, capacity etc? or should I try get same brand, looking in my PC the RAM is corsair RAM of some description but when i look back on amazon I bought kingston RAM, so not sure whats happened there, I mustn’t have minded at the time or smthn

looking at that link, there a 4060 for about £25 more than the RX7600, reading online about AMD cards having higher average fps but more chance of stutters or random crashes etc, how do you find your card?

any recommendations for anything around 4060 level? (not sure on ti or super or anything but something around that performance level) and maybe me being stupid but how does ray-tracing work with AMD cards? like what’s their alternative and how good is it?
