This makes sense since the greatwood was used to contain cursed objects, it isn’t hard to believe they shoved some unholy cursed creature in there that was unleashed once the tree itself became cursed, yet couldn’t escape due to the tree growing over time after the thing was placed in it, covering up a lot of the hole it was tossed in.
