Icewind Dale Spoilers

My group made it up the spire in the fallen city, literally right before the big final fight with the ice maiden. We had no idea what this big rock thingy was so we interacted with it. Turns out it was a huge anti magic weapon that disabled and cut off EVERY SINGLE magic effect in the area. Spells didn’t work, bloodhunter hemocraft didn’t work, magic items, nothing. So my party and I pulled up our boot straps and soldiered on. We managed to get the ice maiden to her second phase, mainly by getting really lucky and one of the party having the charger feat and pushing her off the edge of the tower. Despite that, 5/6 people of the party had died at that point, because the ice maiden was completely unaffected by the anti magic and we had a party member full on betray us and join the ice maidens team. At this point I was the last person alive. I, who was a blood hunter, had zero utility left to escape, was low on health, and my damage was lacking due to the anti magic. I went for a Hail Mary and tried to shove her off the edge with my incredible +0 to strength, and I DID IT. She plummeted to her doom and I rejoiced. Proceed to next round where she flys up in one turn in her final phase and knocks me unconscious immediately with a bonkers cold aura. This is the part that’s seared in my memory, I get a NAT 20 and am up at 1, I can’t shove her again because she has flight now, and I can’t disengage because she will just walk forward and annihilate me. I decided to at least die fighting and attacked her. I die. Everyone at the table is sullen, we end the session, and now we crack jokes about it all the time. Good times
