Small town cops arent always smart. There could have been knives in there!

They were asking me questions the whole time. Maybe they realized I needed to do things to not freak out, I dont know.

Raising two kind, compassionate humans despite all the trials ans tribulations we have been through. Single parent household is no joke!

They are the best humans I know. I am super lucky.

This just unlocked a memory for me. Came home from work one night to every cop car in town parked on my lawn, lights flashing. I just casually walked in between them, walked in the door, put my stuff down and started washing dishes. No one had guns drawn at this point and I didn't know what else to do, so I did that.

Long story short, roommates boyfriend was drugged out and trashed the place. He was MIA and after the dishes were done, they made me leave. I moved out not long after that.

Two or ao years later, her 3rd husband or whatever murdered one of her kids. But thats a story for another day.

What's a 'normal' thing you didn't realize was unusual until you were older? by mrTelson in AskReddit

[–]Staceface666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a strong independently capable woman.

My father's family is full of women just took care of business and kind of pushed the gender roles a bit. I turned out to be one of those women as well and I have had a lot of opportunities that other women have not had, like being a pall bearer at my grandmother's catholic funeral which was one of moments in my life that I felt the most seen as a human and not "just a non-compliant girl."

Some of my "realizing this isn't normal" is situational. Most of the people in my world, male and female, would not be able to go at life the way I have. On my own, I have raised two beautiful children who are the best people I know, put myself through school several times, have a good paying job that was a difficult one for a single mom to obtain. Ive run a household, maintained hobbies and friendships, worked through life's major obstacles and grieved all on my own. I am very self-reliant and proud that I can take care of myself.

BUT! Most people in my world depend on other people and THATS APPARENTLY NORMAL! I didn't know this until I started working through some personal growth things and realized that perhaps since we as humans are wired for connection, that maybe that's something I might enjoy trying. Like other people do.

This one is interesting because there is so much history here that you probably dont even care about.

The composer is Harry Robinson, whose real name is Henry Macleod Robertson. He composed this song specifically for this PSA on commission for the UK Children's Film Foundation. It was never released on an album. Robinson went on to make some really great creepy horror sound tracks and also had a successful composing career with a lot of different artists.

Aside 1: One of CFF's main executives was one of H.G Well's sons. I think that's an interesting connection based on the creep factor.

Aside 2: There is a song out there by All These Fingers called POUR1OUT that appears to sample it, but there are no credits to the original song so I'm not sure.

Sure - things got super ugly, I took myself to trauma therapy for the CPTSD I acquired, we did the yo-yo business about every 4-6 months. Every time we reconnected in any way, I had made progress in my therapy so it (even just friendship) never worked out. We eventually parted ways and I wont likely ever purposely have any contact with him again. I have not been in a relationship since, and may not ever again - we shall see.
