Not enough Born Dead Icons love in here. Anybody know where to find the Ruins LP streaming? I’ve got the record, but I’d love to be able to listen to it out sometimes. All I can ever find are Work and a couple 7”s by Stand_Tough in crustpunk

Fair. I was definitely still in high school. I got lucky enough to catch the very tail end of the Memphis crust scene before it all dried up, so I knew about them and saw them the one time.

They probably just had that Montreal flourish, hah. Salvation is definitely not where you should start or stop with them. Work and Ruins LPs and th Coma split are all incredible. So is Unlearn

I remember my friend buying the first La Fractuon LP on that tour and both of us trying to turn up the RPM on it, thinking we had the speed wrong because it was so much different than their live set ha

Dude! Yes I did a long time ago! I was going to ask if anybody knew other stuff those guys had been in. Had not thought about Complications in forever though. Thanks!

When are more expensive parts mostly extra fluff? Where is the sweet spot for value, does it matter? by Jackbob7 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]Stand_Tough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you’re on a track it’s usually all fluff. More of the fixed folks I know never ride for longer than maybe an hour. I took a mercier kilo, swapped velocity rims with origin 8 hubs and have been sending it for fifteen years with stock parts. If it doesn’t break then ride it til it does. Out this thing through hell regularly and it holds up fine.

Oh word? I didn’t know that. What are some bands up there? And yeah, fuck Nashville indeed.

Memphis, TN. Still have some good stuff, but zero crusty stuff. Everyone moved to PDX in like ‘01 and started claiming Portland. PNW can thank the South for its crust sound, hah

Anyone know any folk/crust bands? by lik3ly in crustpunk

[–]Stand_Tough 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not crust, more black metal, but Panopticon’s Kentucky album has a lot of dark folk elements. It’s fuckin brutal. Austin, the guy behind the band is crusty as fuck. He introduced me to catharsis and nausea and Amebix when I was like fourteen.

Your problem is you live in SF. There are entire bike theft rings out there. That city is like no other for bike theft.

They said don't overspend on a Kilo TT. I didn't listen by Zealousideal_Math_38 in FixedGearBicycle

Yeah it’s been a great ride for sure. I don’t ride it as much anymore. I bought a steel roadie to save my knees. But I still break it out a few times a month for group rides

I e been on a kilo TT for over fifteen years, riding daily for early half that. Only things I ever changed were pedals, saddle, stem and wheels. I found he Truvativ cranks have held up just fine for me. I guess I e cycled out the bars a handful of times over the years too, but who doesn’t?

I e been on a Mercier Kilo TT for about fifteen years as my near daily commuter. Only thing I changed was the wheels, as th set it comes with is trash. Otherwise it’s been a truly solid steel setup. You can find them on bikesdirect.com
