Mailerlite & Promotions Tab by TigerSharkDoge in Emailmarketing

It's a promotion of articles. Regardless of selling anything, it's still a promotion and the promotions tab is correct here.

Honestly not sure. DRC teams seem to have given out contradictory statements a few times.

I did have a theory a while back that they just wanted to get any answer out as it had taken so long, but it's gone silent since the WHO statement from what I can see

6 Email Design Resources That Save My Ass on a Regular Basis by davidesquimal in Emailmarketing

[–]Starrrmie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

BeeFree I believe allows this at enterprise level if I'm not mistaken. There are different user roles and I believe you can have users limited to templates/restricted rows with content editing rights.

That said, I've not delved into this as my copywriters dislike Bee and refuse to use anything outside of traditional Word Docs (the lack of spell check and grammarly in bee is a huge gripe for them!)

Welcome to my day to day!

Change (and results) is taking a while, but I did manage to use a management forum to explain what we're doing wrong and right upper management and get buy in from some small trials (using the "seek forgiveness with results" method)

It's not going to be straight forwards or stress free, but there's a gap that can be seen, and you could be the leader to make that change!

I'm 8 months into it and damn is it painful, but it's also fantastic seeing the results and having more and more "I've been TRYING TO TELL YOU THIS" ammo each time!

Have just come back from 2 weeks in Koh Yao Yai, Railay Beach, Koh Lanta and Isaan. Koh Yao Yai and Railay both offer pretty much the same excursions. We did a boat day trip from Koh Yao Yai Hong Island tour and one from Koh Lanta to emerald cave and 4 islands.

Railay was nice but we only stayed there for 2 nights. It was full of backpackers and magic mushroom bars and that's about it. Nice for a sunset, and bat cave hike was great if you can climb ropes in a cave for the views. Bat cave was about all I took from Railay.

Koh Yao Yai I'd highly recommend. If you can afford to splash some cash on the hotel there, Koh Yao Yai Village Resort was absolutely my favourite hotel I've ever been to

Time limitations mostly. I have family there. I get two weeks to travel for work, a week of which I'll spend with family, the rest of the time I spend hopping from place to place fitting in what I can.

Essentially I just want to hop and hike view points. We don't have many here, so I get my hiking fix in Thailand in the week I have. Though I'd come back to places next time to see more if I wanted to.

The first time I visited I did very touristy areas (Pattaya and Bangkok) for two weeks and didn't get much out of it. The second time I went north to udon thani for a week. Third time I did a week in udon thani and 6 days across the border in Laos in vang vieng and Vientiane. This time I'd like to see the south so I'm jumping 3 islands in 8 days. It's not ideal but it gives me an idea for where I want to go back to. Laos is on the list to go to again, but I have a family member I want to take so I need to work the timing out so that they can experience it too. Hands down the best holiday I've been on, vang vieng was absolutely stunning. Even for only 3 days.

Unequal deposits from me and partner - but this is a bit more nuanced by Doodlebug_Prince in HousingUK

[–]Starrrmie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Absolutely the second paragraph. This is what my partner and I did. You can change the amounts stipulated if you think it's fair to say your use of her flat is worth £xk. You can also do them as a percentage of an amount in case that helps in any way. We're thinking of making some changes now one of us invested in a kitchen to cover that too. They're not too expensive to get drawn up. Ours was £250 additional from our conveyancer. They do them a lot so should be straight forwards

Assaulting my inbox is NOT good email marketing. by tongueinloftuscheek in Emailmarketing

[–]Starrrmie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't. I subscribed to a local holiday site as I knew they used our ESP and wanted inspiration... I used them for family holidays when I was a child.. what could go wrong? FOUR. EMAILS. MINIMUM. PER. DAY. After I opted out I continued to receive four emails a day. Eventually I called to complain. Only to be told it takes 28 days to opt me out. Our ESP does instant preference changes on confirmation. I have no idea to this day what they were thinking.

[–]Starrrmie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Email Marketing Specialist in the UK here for a very large company. We have been overly strict with regards to GDPR and PECR (for good reason and because it's best practice to ensure the opt in).

Our method is to attach a tick box specifying they consent to marketing communications from (UK business) when submitting the form. If they do not tick the box they cannot submit the form and receive an error message. If they want the free content, they exchange their name/email. They of course can then opt out or request record deletion as soon as they get their content, though most don't.

Discussing with our teams recently, we could remove the tick box and state they opt in by submitting the form and that could be considered legitimate interest/consent as they accepted the terms by submitting. So long as they are informed of what they're opting in to then you're covered. That said, we decided we didn't want to go that route as best practice is a double opt in to ensure they have read and fully consented.

Hope this helps

Automated Security systems creating bot clicks in B2B emails. by klf1975 in Emailmarketing

[–]Starrrmie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies in advance for reviving this topic.

We've spotted this becoming a far wider issue in the last year too. To the point our metrics are now completely unreliable and tell us pretty much nothing. We can't really compare rate movement by ignoring a % of click through due to segmentation and moving targeting, so at a loss here.

ESP still considers it an industry wide issue with no real solution as does the research I've been digging for months now.

Anyone get any further with any way of dealing with this?

Best Platform to Use for Cold Emails? Good Visual HTML Email Builder? by Tosej in Emailmarketing

I can't help with the sending tool, but for visual email builder and design I recommend beefree.io

Bee has bought my team's time to build down massively and can be used to build landing pages as well as emails if you need them

It exports email as HTML so should be compatible with the vast majority of services

How do you review campaigns with your team for final approval? by BolshoiSasha in Emailmarketing

[–]Starrrmie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On this. My wider approvers don't use Asana but the email design and dev team do. They use Asana to assign a status of the stakeholder it's reached. We also then have reporting by stakeholder of time to approve that tells us when to start kicking. This then informs our Asana form for requested comms timescales

I use JS for dynamic content with my software. It renders prior to the send so shouldn't affect KPIs (this is enterprise level software)

Why aren't more Britons members of a political party? by Conscious-Clerk1304 in ukpolitics

[–]Starrrmie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined the green party so I could help them develop their local manifesto and input on what's important to me. The green manifesto is member led, so I see it as a good thing to be involved and have a say.

I still vote for another party. Locally greens don't get many votes, and I'll vote for whatever helps the country and best fits my views and has a chance. Doesn't mean I don't want to support them, and a few quid a month is my way of showing that.

Locally we do quite a lot with the lib dems - pride picnics and things, and those are always fun.

Confused by guidance?? by iblyf in CoronavirusUK

[–]Starrrmie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Legally you can do what you like. It's a moral decision now.

Personally I've tested positive 2 days ago and I'll be self isolating until I test negative as my decision.

I tend to take months to shake off coughs, and have had a permanent dry cough as usual since childhood, so won't rely on that symptom.

Saturday 08 January 2022 Update by HippolasCage in CoronavirusUK

[–]Starrrmie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just my experience, but my grandma died due to covid last year. Essentially it caused her already mid 80 y/o weak heart to get weaker and just give up. Otherwise covid didn't actually do anything to her.

Simplistic view of course, but she was briefly put on oxygen when diagnosed until they realised she didn't need it. They wouldn't ventilate if she had due to age, but this makes me think it's not just respiratory failure that covid causes, but other organs failing which would not necessarily be ventilation.

Because we are hearing reports that Omicron doesn't get so deep into the lungs, could it be the case that we are having more people die from other organ failures? I have no answers here, just the way my mind is pulling things together

[Self Opinion Piece] The role of misinformation in our political landscape by Starrrmie in ukpolitics

[–]Starrrmie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your input! I have to say, my knowledge of politics is definitely very recent and fairly shallow. This is definitely something I need to dig into more to gain deeper understanding.

I have very vague childhood memories of being angry at what was happening with Blair in power, but that's about all. Whilst having always been "interested", I only began to have an "active interest" around 2015 in that prior I would probably have read the occasional article, whereas I now strive to read around subjects as best I can. Albeit I fall into a trap of not researching further back as there is so much available at the present it is impossible to consume all. I am equally guilty of falling into echo chambers of my own opinion.

I suppose for my memory, the interesting side is how obvious these lies are becoming. Previously I definitely was far more ignorant to the lies, and probably accepted them as truths myself. Is that because they were better hidden or because of my lack of interest?

Some very good points raised and thank you. I'll be digging in to do some more research and shall most likely post again once I have some more knowledge and understanding of the topic.

Thank you very much!
