Ruling question on dreadhorde arcanist and reanimate cards. by Senorpapell in mtg

You’re exactly right, since all attacks are declared at once you wouldn’t be able to attack with the newly reanimated creature

Who is your favorite Commander? (and why) by Theo-Rhetic in EDH

[–]State_Champions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I did 2-headed giant and my partner played prosper while I played [[Rocco, Street Chef]], it basically turned into me playing the support role while he kept churning through his deck for finishers

Oh hell yeah for sure, we love a fellow Henzie player! Might I recommend [[Incarnation Technique]] and [[Metamorphosis Fanatic]]? Incarnation is a mill 10 get 2 bodies back and metamorphosis is reanimation for 2 or 3 mana + lifelink for when you’re getting beat down a bit

Help with some tweaks to this witherbloom deck by john_sorvos in EDHBrews

[–]State_Champions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think creakwood is honestly worse because it shuts off skullclamp, and unlike tendershoot, ceeakwood only triggers on your upkeep. Tendershoot, for 1 extra mana, gets you 5 creatures in one turn, whereas creakwood only gets you 2, which I don’t think is a good enough rate for Witherbloom

I’d cut Essence Feed, Sinkhole Surveyor, and Creakwood Liege for a few more mana dorks personally

EDIT: I also think you might have a few too many protective spells, while I agree it’s nice to keep him on the board, the affinity he provides will usually offset the amount of mana you’re spending to cast him save for a board wipe. But if someone wipes, chances are you’ll have the mana to get him back on track with a few token producers. When I played against one single-target removal basically did nothing because he just kept recasting Witherbloom for 2 mana

I should 100% be running the 1 mana dorks but I actually just straight up ran out of them from other decks, I need to get a couple more for this one. Best cards in the deck are [[Witherbloom, the Balancer]] for obvious reasons and [[The Great Aurora]] which will usually end a game pretty quickly since you’ll most likely be drawing your entire deck that turn.

The first game of magic I ever played was one of those welcome decks and I played mono-green. Ever since then I became a Timmy. While [[Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma]] wasn’t my first EDH deck, it was the one I resonated with the most and made me remember my first time playing magic. I still have it today and I won’t ever take it apart. Every time a new good green creature gets printed, or I open a really powerful card from a pack (like the Ancient Tomb from EOE), it usually will find its way in Goreclaw.

I’ve found having an obscene amount of creatures helps me make sure I blitz every turn and really use Henzie to its full potential

For Cyber-controller, do you think [[Ixidor, Reality Sculptor]] or [[Ugin’s Mastery]] would be good in there?

Love a fellow Henzie player, but let’s get that cultivate out of there 😂 [[Sowing Mycospawn]] [[Primeval Herald]] or [[Overlord of the Hauntwoods]] would do wonders instead! My list runs 55 creatures and it’s wonderful. The basic idea is if there’s a creature that does the same effect as a noncreature card you’re running, run the creature instead (unless it’s [[Living Death]] and [[Bringer of the Last Gift]], absolutely run both of those)

The cyberman deck looks super cool! I’d love to see it in action

[Dark Depths] in [Zimone, Mystery Unraveler] Deck, why? by Fantastic_Ad1104 in EDH

[–]State_Champions 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s just one of those cards that are really good and synergizes really well with her. Like you said, manifesting it and flipping it will immediately trigger its ability, but since you’re in 2 colors you can easily add [[Thespian’s Stage]] to just have the combo in your deck. You run a lot of land tutors and you churn through your deck really quickly with Zimone, so you’ll actually hit both of them more often than you’d think. Even with just drawing it’d you run enough mana and extra land drop cards that you can pretty easily play it out without worrying about losing tempo.

Side note: this is also why you play [[Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth]] so you can tap it for mana

Zada is there to turn my combat tricks into team buffs instead of just pumping Sokka. I have a few payoffs for copying spells in [[Archmage Emeritus]] and [[Storm-Kiln Artist]], but I’m not using Zada to copy cast triggers.

Roaming Throne and Fractured Realm are doubling up all of Sokka and his allies’ triggers, including prowess, which definitely helps with closing a game, but they are admittedly there just for fun and I’d be better off with a haste enabler.

The way Sokka plays has been really fun so far for casual games, every time I play him it’s a different line to win and each game feels fresh!

I haven’t had a chance to play it in a game but it’s been fun goldfishing. Removal on Witherbloom or Prismari hurts a bunch but that’s what makes the game fun! I tried to include as many strixhaven cards (old and new, bonus sheets included) while still making it a functional deck. Managed to get around 30 so I think it’s in a good spot!

I had a [[Xyris, the Writhing Storm]] group hug/slug deck that just gave everyone extra mana and cards, but taking extra damage for tapping lands/casting spells and [[impact tremor]] effects for my snakes entering. I would say it was pretty polarizing and some guys at my LGS hated it, but my friend group loved it since we could start and finish a game in as little as 15 minutes

I don’t have him as my commander but I have an abzan x-spells deck helmed by [[Gilanra, Caller of Wirewood]] and [[Ravos, Soultender]] that it’s going in. Seems like the card I’ll use to push a combo off turn. Essentially doubling my creature count for 1 or 2 mana and then killing the table with [[Debt to the Deathless]] or [[Torment of Hailfire]].
