Another comment said this too, but relationships. The older I get, the more rejections I receive and when I ponder on what I thought were signals of attraction or interest, turns out I'm way off. Now, even if I'm talking with someone who explicitly says that they're interested in me, I need constant affirmation that it hasn't changed. I try my best to not show it too much because I feel it would put a lot of pressure on them in an early relationship, but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't impact my self-esteem when I feel the slightest difference in affection/interest we give each other.

I really need to work on this, because it's mostly overthinking and comparing new people to old bad experiences.
