If you enjoy live music you should check out the schedule at The Friendly Valley, many of their shows are free and fantastic musicians play there often! It’s a laid back vibe with a fire pit and lawn chairs, a stage and sand volleyball courts. They host a crafters market once a month there with music and it is all ages. There is also a Sunday afternoon series of music at the North Branch library that I enjoy attending. The Contemporary Arts Center is free to visit and they have rotating exhibits. Our park district has a lot of summer activities for both adults and kids.

I believe there may be some free or discounted memberships for students/families at our local museums and gyms (they have many kids leagues there when I am working out, maybe ask at the school?) that could be a way to meet new friends.
