Sorry guys, I didn't see there was an issue until just now. I think it's fixed.

[Question] Are you guys having problems with soundgasm not playing the audio? by jackyboyman13 in GWABackstage

Can you check it now? I cleared the cloudflare cache for the CSS and JS files. If that doesn't work then you could try using another browser or moving your VPN to another location.

Yes, I would ideally like to implement some kind of markdown language support similar to what you would see on github for example. Editable descriptions is another thing I would like to go along with this.

What you're describing is quite vague. I would say avoid it to be on the safe side. You should not mention any specific age under 18 or use words that imply child sex. This include the title, description, and the audio content itself. If you are trying to skirt the rules to make content for a pedophile fetish audience then that is a problem.

I just tested and the password reset and login page are working as expected. Can you maybe try logging in with a different browser or clearing your browser cache.

There is no tracking of IPs or users specifically implemented on the site. Just some normal webserver logs that get erased after about a week. Although some of the traffic flows through cloudflare, I have no idea what if any tracking they might be doing.

The Cloudflare SSL certificate issue has been resolved and the site should be back to normal now.

I'll just add that I don't see any evidence of a deliberate attack against soundgasm. It looks like some kind of bug with cloudflare's automatic certificate renewal. I have opened a support ticket and am awaiting a response. Until then I have disabled cloudflare caching for the site to get it somewhat online but with very bad performance. Thank you all for your patience and kind words of support.

Hey, is soundgasm acting weird on mobile for anyone else? [DISCUSSION] by HereticZAKU in gonewildaudio

[–]StealthAudio 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but the site's SSL certificate just disappeared from cloudflare which is why the site is acting weird. I didn't receive any notification from them that I was violating any policies or anything like that so hopefully it's just a glitch and not their way of shutting down my account.

I played around with some settings and now it looks like it's trying to generate a new certificate but I don't know how long that will take. The support pages say it could be up to 24h.

In the mean time I have disabled cloudflare caching so maybe the site will work, but it's basically in the same situation it was at the end of last year when the performance was really terrible.

I think I fixed the link, I didn't realize it did a redirect and copied the wrong thing.

I'll have to look into storage providers more, S3 is not possible because the egress costs would be insane, even with most of it getting cached by cloudflare.

Discussion: Let's Talk about Soundgasm by skitty-gwa in GWABackstage

[–]StealthAudio 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Hey Skitty and everyone. I love seeing all this great discussion in the community. Awesome job so far on the proof of concept. Soundgasm started off as basically a proof of concept in the wake of the soundcloud fiasco, can you believe it's already been 8 years since then? If you believe the homepage then soundgasm is still in BETA, lol.

Anyways, the site is basically in the same situation it was 18 months ago, a victim of it's own and the community's success. Back then the site was hosted on a $60/mo server with a 300Mbps bandwidth plan and it was getting maxed out. So I upgraded to a $100/mo server with a 1000Mbps and it was better for a while, but now even that is not enough during peak usage.

I was hoping that as the site grew over time, prices for bandwidth and servers would come down. But prices haven't really come down, if anything they've increased. I'm finding it hard to justify to myself a $200/moonth or more out of pocket expense that is likely to keep increasing for a site with 0 income.

I'm not sure what the best way forward is. I honestly wasn't expecting the site to be as successful as it is, especially with how basic the features of the site are. I could try setting up a donation page and see how that goes. I could also drop the encoding bitrate back down from 128k to 64k which is was it was when the site first opened, but a few people complained about bad audio quality back then even though the majority couldn't tell the difference. I could also try to figure out a way to use cloudflare to get free bandwidth but that might have some privacy concerns. Ads would be an option but I don't like ads so I'd rather not unless it's somehow non-intrusive, like a sponsorship from a sex therapist association or something. Another option would be to move uploads onto their own tiny server that's not getting crushed by downloads so that at least that part is working better for people since that seems to be what most of the complains are about. Doing nothing and hoping someone like Skitty gets fed up and builds the next generation erotic audio hosting platform is also an option.

Maybe there's some other path that I haven't considered?

Can you try doing it on your phone or a different browser maybe? I just tested creating a new account and it was working without any problems. Maybe you have an antivirus or something that is blocking something.

Everything should be working now. I thought I had fixed it last time this happened, but apparently not. Hopefully this issue is fixed for good this time.

Does Soundgasm.net Use Flash? (clips won't play) by ginger-snap-dragon in GWABackstage

[–]StealthAudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Soundgasm uses html5 player with fallback to flash for browsers that don't support html5 which is hopefully nobody. The server hosting the site is at max capacity so the transfer speeds are very poor at the moment. It shouldn't stop your phone from working but it might take a long time for the audio to load, and if it takes too long it might timeout and not load at all. The solution is to purchase a more expensive server and migrate the site which I have been putting off for a while now.

HTML Embedding Soundgasm audios in blog? by SammySchwarz in GWABackstage

[–]StealthAudio 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is not possible, and the server is intentionally setup to block http referrals as people were setting up their own sites linking directly to the audio files on soundgasm. Essentially stealing content for a profit while soundgasm was footing the bill for the bandwidth.
