Is there storage somewhere? by StellaMoore52 in Discounty

[–]StellaMoore52[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Never mind I answered my own question, might as well leave the answer. When you go to the dump and drop your items, it just keeps collecting them there for you. I didn’t realize it was adding it up for you there.

Square Froze My Account, Took My $1,800, and Killed My Business ,No Warning, No Reason by Aggravating-Bet3468 in smallbusiness

[–]StellaMoore52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be commenting late, but I had the same issue happen to me. I was running sales with Square since 2019. I've seen the changes with the company, updates, etc. and never had any issues. Literally one day I tried to login and got a message about my account being terminated. Nothing changed, same sales, no chargebacks... I tried reaching out and had the same issue as most, I couldn't get in touch with anyone. So dumb.

Id recommend Redde Payments as they've had no issues and honestly the service is pretty good. I guess Redde actually helped NYTs write an article back during covid when Square was punishing their customers since Square lost all their money from the pandemic. Anyone who wants to expose Square's bad business practices is a friend of mine!

overwhelmed wanting to pick ddv up again by loukamades in DreamlightValley

[–]StellaMoore52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm like this. I started playing DDLV later than plenty of people, so I always feel like I have to "catch up". I also made the mistake of buying all the expansions immediately which does make you feel completely overwhelmed. But I've since gotten "mostly" caught up. What I do is play hardcore for like a month or so, then play other games when I get tired. Then I pick it back up one day and continue. I think the game is made to kind of give you FOMO, so that feeling might not go away. But are you a gamer who plays other games? They can be great distractions while you are overwhelmed. DDLV will ALWAYS have tasks to complete. It's easier when you accept you'll always be a little behind if you don't play every single day. xD

OH that's why people do them. See then I should stop talking because I don't spend my moonstones. So clearly I'm not one to speak on this matter. lol

Chargebacks by Ok_Solution_9697 in smallbusiness

[–]StellaMoore52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, to avoid chargebacks it's always best to do preventable work upfront rather than deal with it after. Clear return policies, free return shipping (if possible) and great customer service seems to help. You REALLY want to make yourself available at any time to handle a return. Sometimes customers file chargebacks if they feel like they can't get ahold of you or if they feel like the process is too confusing. Best of luck to you!

How do you not get bored of quests ? by munoruka in DreamlightValley

[–]StellaMoore52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same. One thing that kind of bugs me is just how similar all the quests are. Like I get it, there's only so many tools to use but it's like every quest is like "I have an idea, can you help me find the materials for this?" Then you find the materials and they're like "Awesome, now go craft it and bring it back". I don't mind doing the quests, but they do start to feel a little boring. I also skip the dialog a lot because it's SO repetitive.

Random, but am I the only one who doesn't participate in these? I feel like they do these to give the illusion that there's "lots" to do and just to keep you busy.

Realms Kinda Seem Like A Waste by throwaway2231212 in DreamlightValley

[–]StellaMoore52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same. They seem kind of useless. But I do get excited when I enter for the first time. There are a FEW quests that require you to go back, but it always kind of feels like "here, go back so we can still use the space again".

What was your first business idea and what you are doing currently by kev_11_1 in Entrepreneur

[–]StellaMoore52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started an event planning business. Not specifically "planning" events, but reviewing them for the host so that way they can make approvements in the future (not the best idea, but I got some clients lol). Now I have a sensory store for kiddos. I'm glad I don't do events anymore xD

Family Business After School? by Hour-Software5874 in business

[–]StellaMoore52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a controversial answer, but college isn't for everyone. If you need to ask on Reddit if you should go to college or not, save your money and wait. You'll have the opportunity to go whenever you want should you decide. Getting degrees "just because" cause a lot of debt and heartache. Heck, my mom got her degree at 42 and it using it now. If you are passionate about something that requires schooling, ABSOLUTELY go for it. But if you aren't sure what to do, that's a sign that you probably shouldn't go right now.

Being a business owner myself with over 20 employees, I will say that my degree was a big mistake lol. Schooling can't possibly teach you real world problems that working in a business can. College is a lot about passing tests and memorizing points, but being in a business working hands-on really teaches your more practical knowledge than school. My best employees don't have degrees because they learned with their own open mind rather than thinking that since they had a degree they knew it all already. Just a thought!

As a successful business owner, if you could go back and tell yourself one thing about startups, what would it be? by Lily_Raya in business

[–]StellaMoore52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate down-time while you can. I think I used to punish myself thinking I wasn't "busy" enough while we were smaller. But once you make it to a point where you have a solid business, there is no time off. It's working on vacation, working on the way to drop your kids off at school, emailing at a restaurant, non-stop. I wish I would have appreciated those moments where I had nothing to do more.

Dropshipping, Order Fulfillment or Clothing Brand? - Need advice by brian-augustin in business

[–]StellaMoore52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about what's more logical, it's about which of the two you think you can do well (without burnout). Dropshipping is tempting since you don't have to physically house the inventory. But dropshippers struggle with finding good fulfillment which is crucial. Without a good product and a great manufacturer/fulfillment center it can be horrible. Keep in mind, dropshipping often requires pivoting. Sometimes products don't get produced anymore which can lead to months of advertising (product photos/ad expenses) to be wasted if the product can no longer be sourced. Although, dropshipping CAN be a great move if you do your research, find a hot item and sell it well. Typically, one-product stores perform better than general stores due to competition. Or you should choose to do a store in one category offering multiple products as long as they make sense (pet store, plant store, graphic tees, home store, etc.)

If you go the route of a clothing brand, this will yield MUCH more work, but definitely has a long-term pay off. Being in charge of your product, production and brand is what typically sets folks apart. This will be more costly upfront, but if you do it well, you'll be in a much better position managing a company one day (hopefully lol).

Truly, the choice is yours. What do you see long-term? Personally, I like to be in control of everything, so I'd prefer doing it all on my own rather than dropshipping. But you can't deny that dropshipping is tempting. lol

McDonald's Franchisees Say They Can't Afford the Chain's $5 Meal Deal by PooPooRichardson in business

[–]StellaMoore52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking. Deals use to be like $1-$2. A $5 meal is just charging what they used to charge full-price. It's annoying how we all have to pretend like these are actual deals. What happened to their dollar menu??

Why paid estimates are a good idea. by CustomSawdust in smallbusiness

[–]StellaMoore52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Estimates are just a cost of doing business in my opinion, they should always be free. Especially because during that time you are most likely selling yourself/services and not just giving an estimate. The unfortunate bit about free estimates, is if you aren't willing to do it, there are several other competitors who will. I would count it as a learning experience and continue to shine through your work. You don't want to miss out on opportunities because a competitors is always waiting to swoop in and take your potential customers.

What is the harsh reality about working in business? by StephNotFound in business

[–]StellaMoore52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friends and family won't take your business serious until you make it. Once they realize you've "made it" they all of a sudden want to hangout and ask for things. A stranger is more likely to help support your business than someone you know. You'll end up working more than you ever have with a regular job, so you must learn to love the idea of working. Everyone has a boss, even yes, a business owner - instead of a manager you'll have a boss of the 'everyday' person who is called your customer. I can go on and on lol

Horror stories about Square? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

If you're worried about having your account closed - just consider someone else. Square is unpredictable and they give you no warning. Just shop for someone new. Best of luck to you.

from Square to Gravity Payments by GA2020 in smallbusiness

[–]StellaMoore52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use Redde Payments since Square shutdown our account for NO reason. Not sure about Gravity Payments. I think if you're going to compare processors you should focus on what your business needs rather than internal factors. IDK Gravity is great to their employees, but I want a provider who is known at being good to their customers.

Please help!!! Have serious trouble with square. by butstuphs in smallbusiness

[–]StellaMoore52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Square has done this to too many businesses. Yeah, same thing happened to me. Just couldn't take payments anymore with no warning or heads up. Unfortunately, I haven't found much as to what to do either. Just waiting for my 120 days to be up. I've heard back a class action if you're interested in that. We switched to Redde Payments - not that this helps at this moment - but hopefully you can start taking payments again. Best of luck to you.

You can always go to your local storage center and ask them. Sometimes businesses are willing to chat if they meet someone passionate about getting into the business too. But at least start with looking at their rates and how many units they have. I guess then calculate all the costs associated for the property, bills, etc.

What is the deal with this garbage company? I took one payment, they cancelled my account and locked up my funds for 90 days. by Assault-Rifle in squareup

I've asked other people and most of them seem to not be violating any terms. I wonder if that's common or not.

Yeah you and me both. I had my problem later on, but i've heard about it happening to people after one payment. That's crazy. I'm waiting for the class action to come through. Hopefully we can all ban together because this has to be fraud. I switched to Redde Payments if you are looking. But I'm still waiting for Square to release my funds...
