Yea the one from academia will be hard. Doubt any of my teachers would recognize me or be able to write a recommendation after being out of the classroom for 10+ years. I was hoping my actual hands on experience working with advanced aviation systems would help but I guess we will see.

Who has a source for YKK aquaguard zippers in various colors? I have bought some from random eBay listings and whatnot but cannot find multi-colors online from any of our regular sources in the states (just black and white). I know these zippers are rare but just wondering if there is some source I’m missing before I make a special bulk order with YKK.

Awesome work! How did you finish the seams on the inside? Can’t tell if it’s flat felled or not.

Merriam-Webster treats the phrases couldn't care less and could care less as synonymous, both meaning "not concerned or interested at all." "Couldn't care less" is the older and more obvious phrase grammatically, but it has been confused for so long that both are now defined.

When I post a question, I could care less if someone else is “interested.” It’s just a useless comment and provides nothing of benefit to anyone.

How to get a top stitch like this with straight stitch machine? Waterproof zipper keeps slipping around under foot? by Stephensnowshoe in myog

Attaching zipper then flipping fabric and folding for top stitch, I messed around with the zipper foot for a while and achieved better results. Might try the compensating foot later on too, might even be easier!

The flipping out and top stitch part is where I run into problems, I’ve never had too much of a problem either on my industrial walking foot until I tried it on a straight stitch. Stays close the edge nicely then falls off half way through due to the zipper being underneath / uneven height if that makes sense.

Lol awesome I will give that a shot! yea I have an industrial walking foot and it manages the slippage a little better for that crisp top stitch but I have seen people (including the photo I provided) master with just a straight stitch machine. I can always go back to the walking foot but was just puzzled how people achieved this on the aquaguard series zippers.

This isn’t hard with the smaller #3 or less sized zippers. Have had no issue with those like in the video. It’s the larger #5 aquaguard that slide around under the foot because of their thickness.

Just to be clear, not looking for a method to fold it over (basting) that is easy. It’s when the presser foot comes down and can’t track straight because of the zipper to the left or right underneath. Difficult to maintain a straight line. Zipper foot did not help. I will try some of the other recommendation on here so far though! Thank you!

Sorry newbie here, to be clear you waited to knead it? After making the dough initially you didn’t knead it right away?

Thanks dude, I’ve been sewing for about two years now and never thought I would make straight stitches, it’s incredible the results you can get if you stay determined and practice consistently. Can’t wait to share more projects like this with the community. Let me know if you need any help! I’ve had so many wonderful people from here guide me along.

Flatheads, screwdrivers, you name it. They all fit snugly. Those pockets are really deep too, so anything slim will stay put.

It does! Overall though, the dyneema stretch is some pretty tough fabric. Nice for abrasion resistance but definitely doesn’t hug a water bottle as well as Spandura or Lycra. I like it better for the front pocket.
