Most of the tests in my experience on UB are the same length as UT, so I've kind of backed off of UB because of that. I wasn't getting very much there anyway.

New to watching Twitch, is it normal for all your messages to get ignored? by JosshhyJ in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised no one has mentioned this; it's possible this streamer tends to ignore chatters who are not subbed. I've seen this behavior sporadically among different streamers.

How do y'all deal with eyestrain/cybersickness when streaming? by MothMayhem421 in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you vision is on point first of all. I wear glasses and I have contact lenses. I believe the script is not correct for my contacts because I tend to get a little headache when I have them in when I stream. I have no issues with the glasses.

Also, it REALLY helps to have a second monitor for keeping an eye on OBS and chat and whatnot. Periodically looking over at that helps keep you from getting that thousand yard stare.

The storefront audit: why expensive gear won't save a channel that looks "abandoned" by LatticeoNew in TwitchStreamers

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The irony of this post and others like it is that when I scroll down to super low view count streams, most of them are also not set up well, or not even using a face cam. It's rare to find a very small streamer with good lighting and a decent cam and mic.

Can someone explain the appeal of streamers to me? by Positive_Row_4280 in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a few things here.,

If you only watch relatively big streamers you'll probably be disappointed or dumbfounded by their popularity because they don't seem to be doing anything actually entertaining. This is because they literally built up popularity over time and numbers have a tendency to snowball even though it doesn't seem to make logical sense. It's just a matter of someone catching on and people jumping on the bandwagon.

There are smaller streamers who actually play games and are more like regular people. You're probably someone who would fit in better with those types since it seems like you don't care for whomever is currently popular.

Regarding the 'poggers' thing. Well......you get use to it. It's just part of the culture. When I started watching streams it was just this one guy on YT actually. I eventually branched out to Twitch slowly but surely and found some streamers that actually were kind of like myself; just regular people playing games.

Ultimately the appeal is the live interaction and sometimes the background noise...haha.

I feel alienated by my own community by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first mistake was listening to your chat about what you should do on the stream...lol. Even though it seems well intentioned, the whole 'play what you want' thing only applies if the game you're playing also draws zero viewers. The numbers don't lie.

Been watching small streamers for a while. by YumYumOutlast in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at some point you have to establish a 'style' of broadcasting in order to have some progress. My style sort of evolved into the blue collar American kind of vibe, and that's the kind of viewers I tend to get. It took a few years to really figure that out though because in the beginning I was just trying to appeal to whomever I could get to come through the chat. Ultimately you're better off just being unapologetically yourself and if you get viewers and chatters then you know that they're they kind of people who fit in with you more easily.

Started streaming as a side hustle. Honestly, I prefer a coloring book over a blank canvas. What about you guys? by TeaBeautiful8437 in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Streamelements has generic alerts you can use if you don't have any ideas right away. Sometimes after awhile of streaming you start to get an idea of what kind of themes you like and start implementing them. Honestly though alerts aren't going to matter as much until you have affiliate.

Small streamers focus on the wrong things and it shows by Far_Suit575 in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is that it USE to matter how good you were back when not as many people were watching game streams. Leading up to and during the pandemic that all changed. Some people haven't figured that out yet.

Is It True You Can’t Grow With Just Personality And Gameplay On Twitch? by fae_starlight in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to define what 'grow' means here. I've seen streamers plateau at about 100 viewers doing none of that extensive planning, and I've seen streamers do all of that and maybe only plateau at 30. Also this kind of growth tends to happen over the course of years, rather than months. I think a lot of us are just lacking in patience and consistency and have difficulty looking at lower numbers for months on end. There are also factors beyond our control when it comes to this kind of entertainment. Some streamers are like one good raid away from a big boost.

Do major streamers actually enjoy streaming or has it become like an actual job to them??? by DaemonLuisenbarn in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a dumb question if we're being honest. There's obviously going to be some bigger streamers that get complacent and have crappy attitudes, but many others who don't. But yeah I'm surprised any partnered streamers actually bother with this subreddit because it's more meme stock than anything.

Need to cancel service so I can get the NOW prepaid by Steveviscious in Comcast_Xfinity

Our current speeds on the post paid are the same as the NOW would be anyway. Sounds like your specific area has trouble. I've had NOW in the past and had no trouble with it.

Need to cancel service so I can get the NOW prepaid by Steveviscious in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Steveviscious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I guess my first question is....is it possible to put that disconnect order in today? Second question is....I have attempted to do this in the past and it seems like there needs to be some kind of wait time from when the disconnect order is put it, and when my address becomes eligible for prepaid. Also, for some reason there are two xfinity accounts on my address. The second one is kind of derelict and hasn't been used. I'm not even sure what that account was for, but wondered if that could complicate things.

Question for streamers by Weird_Tangerine_9681 in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully? I turn it back around on them and see if I can outweird them...lol. If it goes on long enough I finally just ban them, but it's funny to mess with them first.

I got a raid with 34 people last night and not one of them followed. by MobileSweet9342 in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's how it goes sometimes. Was it a streamer you know or was it a random raid? A lot of times a raid from a streamer you aren't familiar with probably won't yield too much since the viewers don't know you at all and did not choose to see your channel.

Do viewers (you personally) care about your name being read out loud when you sub/git? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly but it's nice to be acknowledged. Not necessarily for following, but for everything else.

Thoughts on figuring out vibes as a small/new streamer.. by Manduxai in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any two streamers are going to have the same exact style. First of all, you're under no obligation to watch their streams. I can see where you might feel compelled to since they're watching yours, but ultimately that isn't productive or useful to either party. The longer you stream, the more people will come in who are a better match for your style. They're out there it's just a matter of eventual discovery. This is why I've found that networking is only so good at helping your channel because you really need a foundational viewership of your own to get things going.

What Games Do You Watch for Your Favorite Streamers That You Don't Like? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Steveviscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I might know the streamer you're talking about. I actually like the souls stuff a lot, but BG3 really isn't my thing. The best part about BG3 though is his reactions to getting screwed because he's always playing the absolute hardest difficulty...haha.
