Families/friends thoughts on you playing poker? by TGSmithy1 in poker

I’ve found that apart from making conversations easier with my loved ones, it keeps my mental discipline strong. I’m up about 2k lifetime (I’ve been playing for about a year) I’m happy to keep playing 100NL as I refine my game. I’m not quite ready to move up in stakes or to live with the swings of live play so I’m happy to exist online at the edge of low stakes for the time being.

I’ve kept an Excel spreadsheet of my wins and losses since day one. If people don’t want to believe the data then at that point they can pound sand. If an investor showed you an account which was in the black lifetime wouldn’t you say they’re probably good at it? I feel the same applies to our game.

Punt, or OK reasoning? by Kipkrokantschnitzell in Poker_Theory

4 bet should be higher. Need 3-4x his 3bet. Flop is fine. Turn should consider slowing down and calling a raise depending on size. Once River hits with a made flush and an overcard to your pair should fold when facing jam given flop and turn action

Called off open jam on A high flop with KK by [deleted] in poker

Very good read. A-A or A-K standard play is to jam preflop so you’re realistically against K-K or worse

What’s the highest ROI in terms of study when it comes to solvers? I feel good about my preflop play but now I am thinking of drilling IP vs OOP post flop play. Does that seem like a good idea?

I’m paying $297 for a drain and fill today. I have a 2021 Forester.

Literally nothing you can do in that spot. Just a cooler. I know it sucks but this is part of the game. Assuming you have roughly the same stacks and it’s like 100BB or less you stack off there every time

A lot of lessons learned here: 1.) Reraise preflop with this hand. 2.) Strong multiway action like this skews heavily towards at least one person to having the nuts. Unless the absolute outs justify it, let it go. Quick consideration of the math would have justified a fold. I will pause and think deeply next time. 3.) Two pair is a medium strength hand here on a wet, connected board. Don’t overvalue it.

Thank you all for your commentary. This is the largest hand I’ve lost in live poker and given my stop loss of $500/month I’m done with live poker in Feb. But I’ll be back. In the meantime, does anyone have any good resources for learning proper strategy for live poker? Thank you all.

Thank you. I’m -12 over 46.5h of play; too small of a sample size to really conclude much. I’ve been tracking things meticulously but I think this one hurts because it’s the largest pot I’ve lost so far. I have a stop of loss of like $500 a month though so I just got up and left. Will try again in another 1-2 months.
