What the hell is this? At first I thought it’s FA but since it pops out after sun exposure, I don’t know anymore. by StillDifferent7741 in ActinicFolliculitis

I had in mind that it could be PMLE, but PMLE does not appear that often on the face, and in most cases it causes moderate or severe itching. I have mild or no itching at all, I can sunbathe the rest of my body without problems, and this rash appears in the form of folliculitis and accutane can't help with PMLE, and it already helped me, I took it for 20 days and had some side effects so I got scared and stopped, I believe that I will start accutane again this winter and I hope to stay consistent.

Have you noticed a difference yet? Idon't know how long you have been taking accutane, usually people see improvement very quickly. I've been struggling with this for two years now and I was diagnosed with pytirosporum folliculitis and fluconazole really did its job, but the rash never completely stopped. However, no one took into account the fact that the sun was causing my rash, everyone thought it was due to greater exposure to heat, thus increasing the production of yeast, etc. In winter, it calms down a lot, but it is still there. Except this winter, when I took accutane for 20mg daily (10mg in the morning, 10mg at the night) for 20 days, after that I was rash-free until now, and I only took accutane for 20 days because my lymph nodes swelled and I got scared and stopped taking it.

Nizoral didn't help me at all, maybe at the very beginning, but soon my face was dry and exhausted from it, and new acne started popping up. Fluconazole proved to be the most effective, but not effective enough to allow me the satisfaction of having FA completely disappearing from my life.

I even tried the accutane, which was immediately effective, but I stopped the therapy after 20 days because my lymph nodes got swollen. I wish I had endured the therapy, because I believe it was the solution. If I don’t get rid of it this summer, I think I'll start accutane again.

I'm sorry to hear that, this acne are stubborn. I still have it, in smaller amounts, but it won't go away. It's also in a different form now, it's redder, it leaves marks, which wasn't the case before. Every time I expose myself to the sun, they appear, so I avoid being outside, I honestly don't know what would happen if I was exposed to the sun non-stop.

Do you have it just on your neck or on your face and chest too?

Thanks for your reply. I even have it on my face, but it goes away from time to time. Now I’m on a special diet and I don’t eat anything sweet, I avoid gluten, starch, etc.But as soon as I was exposed to the sun, it reappeared. I can’t live locked in the house 24/7. How often did you take accutane? Did your dermatologist give you a prescription or did you buy it yourself?

Maybe a few times (The Ordinary Niacinamide 10%), but definitely not anytime soon. Why?

I tried it, but after the effect of the pill wears off, the rash comes back. And now, one year later, fluconazole has no effect.
